1. Why are you increasing the additional screen charge and who will be affected?
Over the years, StarHub has been experiencing rising costs in bringing the widest range of quality programmes to you and your family. As we are unable to continue absorbing these additional costs indefinitely, we are left with the need to implement this rate adjustment for additional screen(s) (subscription for additional set-top boxes).
This adjustment is necessary to ensure that we can continue to offer the option of enjoying the content from a single home subscription plan on multiple TV sets in your home by topping up a nominal sum for an additional set-top box without having to take on another full-price StarHub TV plan.
2. What is the additional screen charge about?
The additional screen charge of $10.70 (previously $8.56) is applicable to each additional set-top box which you have subscribed with your StarHub TV subscription.
This gives our customers the option of enjoying the content from a single subscription plan on multiple TV sets in your home by topping up a nominal sum of $10.70 for an additional set-top box, without having to take on another full-price StarHub TV plan.
This charge is separate from the set-top box rental fees which remains unchanged. Please refer to Question 4 for an example of how the charges will be reflected after the price adjustment.
All charges are inclusive of prevailing 7% GST.
3. When will the change in additional screen charge be reflected in my bill?
The additional screen charge will be reflected from your May 2015 bill onwards depending on your billing period.
4. How will my bill look like after the price adjustment?
Let us illustrate with the below example, billing period from 1st – 31st of the month.
Additional Screen – Content has been billed $8 from 01/05/15 - 31/05/15 in the previous bill. As Additional Screen – Content was adjusted to $10 from 1 May 2015, it will credit back the old Additional Screen – Content charge of $8 from 01/05/15 - 31/05/15 and bill you the new Additional Screen – Content of $10 for the same period.
Since subscription is billed one month in advance, you will also see the monthly Additional Screen – Content charge of $10 from 01/06/15 – 30/06/15 in the same bill. Moving forward, you will only see the normal monthly charges for the subscription.
**Note: Amount is subjected to prevailing GST.
5. Can the HomeHub voucher be used to offset the additional screen charge?
No, the HomeHub voucher cannot be used to offset the additional screen charge. It can only be used to offset any add-on channel subscriptions or Video On Demand purchases.
6. Can StarHub increase the additional screen charge as I am still within the contract period? And why am I not rate protected?
The StarHub TV contract which you have signed applies to your TV content subscription / package and your first set-top box.
The additional screen charge is only applicable to additional set-top boxes which are required to view StarHub TV content on multiple TV sets. These additional set-top boxes are not tied to your StarHub TV contract.
7. Can I return my additional set-top box without terminating my StarHub TV contract or incurring any Early Termination charge?
Yes, you can. The Early Termination charge only applies when your StarHub TV contract is terminated. You may return your additional set-top box without terminating your StarHub TV contract or incurring Early Termination charge as your additional set-top box is not tied to your StarHub TV contract.
