What is 4G LTE / 3G DC-HSPA+?

4G LTE and 3G DC-HSPA+ are known as 4th Generation Long Term Evolution and 3rd Generation Dual Cell High-Speed Packet Access Plus, respectively. 4G LTE and 3G DC-HSPA+ offer peak download speed of up to 75Mbps and 42Mbps, respectively. Both networks enable customers to enjoy bandwidth intensive content such as mobile TV, video and music streaming, cloud services and social networking, among others.

How can I enjoy 4G LTE or 3G DC-HSPA+ service?

Customer will require a LTE or DC-HSPA+ mobile device and Prepaid 4G Booster plan to enjoy the service. For example, to enjoy 4G LTE service, customer will need to have a LTE handset or LTE dongle and activate a 4G Booster via *123*3*4# via their prepaid mobile.

What will happen if I move into an area with no 4G LTE coverage?

In areas where 4G LTE has not been deployed, users will be seamlessly switched to DC-HSPA+ or 3G connectivity.

How can I tell if I am connected to 4G LTE or DC-HSPA+?

When you are connected on 4G LTE network, your mobile will show “4G” or “LTE” while DC-HSPA+ connection, it will show you “H+” or “3G”.

Why is my phone showing 3G when I am within 4G coverage?

Current 4G smartphones or devices only initiate change from 3G to 4G during idling stage. If you are currently streaming video via 3G network, you will automatically be switched to 4G when you had finished your video session.

I have a LTE device and 4G booster plan is activated successfully, why am I not able to logon to 4G network?

On your device, under settings > mobile networks/data, ensure that the Access Point Name (APN) “shppd” is selected. Once the APN is selected correctly, you should be able to logon to 4G network.

What is Happy Transfer?

Happy Transfer allows StarHub prepaid subscribers to transfer prepaid talktime to another StarHub prepaid mobile.

How can one access Happy Transfer?

For transfer to a StarHub prepaid number: dial *123*5*5*1#

What is the minimum balance required in my Prepaid account if I want to transfer airtime via Happy Transfer?

To transfer local airtime, please ensure that you have minimum $2.05 main wallet balance. The lowest amount available is $2 and there’s a 5¢ service fee per transaction.

How much worth of talktime can I transfer?

Capped at 5 transactions per day OR $100 per calendar month for requestor.

How much will I be charged for every transfer I make via Happy Transfer?

Only the cost of the talktime that you wish to transfer will be deducted from your account. For transfers to a StarHub prepaid number, an additional transaction charge of 5 cents per transaction will be imposed.

There are no other surcharges for talktime transfers made using Happy Transfer.

How will I know if the transfer I made via Happy Transfer was successful?

You will receive a confirmation SMS once the talktime you are transferring is received by the person you are sending it to. The SMS will display the amount deducted from your account and the amount of talktime received by the person you to wish sent.

How will the person I'm sending talktime to, know when the transfer has been successfully made?

They will receive an SMS notification detailing how much talktime was transferred and which StarHub Mobile Prepaid number the talktime was sent from.

Can I choose to transfer a different amount of airtime apart from the denominations listed under Happy Transfer?

No. You can only choose from a predefined list of the Happy Transfer talktime offered by StarHub Ltd.

Why is the Happy Transfer International being discontinued?

The 'Overseas Transfer' feature from Happy Transfer will be phased out from 30 January 2024 onwards as part of StarHub’s continual efforts to streamline our services and ensure our products remain relevant to the changing needs of our customers.

I have already requested for my free minutes and I have used up the benefits. Can I request for them again?

No, as Happy Xtra benefits are available only once per top-up of minimum $10. You may request for it again after your next top-up.


Free IDD 018 to 19 Countries Introduction

How do I enjoy Free IDD 018 to any of the selected destinations?

To enjoy this promotion, just use your StarHub Mobile Postpaid or Happy Prepaid phone to dial "018", followed by the Country Code, Area Code and the telephone number of your intended recipient.

For example, if you are dialling to Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur), you will need to key in, "018 60 3", followed by the telephone number.

The promotion is valid till further notice.


Eligibility of Inbound Travellers

I am an inbound traveller visiting Singapore. Do I enjoy this promotion if I use the StarHub network to call one of the Free IDD destinations via 018 or '+'?

No. The IDD 018 promotion applies to only StarHub Mobile Postpaid (except PowerValue plans) and Happy Prepaid customers. To enjoy this promotion, please purchase a StarHub Prepaid SIM card.


Eligibility When Overseas

I am a StarHub Mobile user roaming in a destination offered under the Free IDD 018 promotion (e.g. Thailand). Is the promotion applicable when I receive an incoming call in the country?

No, as that would be considered an incoming call which you have received while roaming and will be subject to roaming charges. Learn more about roaming charges.

Will the Free IDD 018 promotion apply if I were to make a call back to Singapore from a destination offered under the Free IDD 018 promotion?

No, as that would be considered a roaming call. Learn more about roaming charges.

Will the Free IDD 018 promotion be applicable if I were to make a local call on my StarHub Mobile Postpaid or Happy Prepaid service when I'm in the country (e.g. Malaysia)?

No, as calls made overseas to local numbers within that particular country using your StarHub Mobile phone will be considered roaming calls as well.

This promotion applies to calls made via the "018" access code only.

Will this Free IDD 018 promotion be applicable for calls made to both registered fixed lines and mobile numbers in these destinations?

This promotion is applicable to calls made to both mobile and fixed lines registered in the listed 19 destinations except Australia, New Zealand and United Kingdom.

Free IDD 018 is not applicable to calls made to the following:

  • Australia mobile and special services with prefixes, '611' and '614'

What happens if I top up less than $18 on my StarHub Prepaid SIM?

You will not enjoy 20-Day Free Incoming Calls if you top up less than $18. However, you can still activate On-Demand Unlimited Incoming Calls by keying in *123*2# and SEND on your mobile phone.

A daily deduction of 59¢ will apply upon activation of On-Demand Unlimited Incoming Calls feature.

*A fee of 59¢ will apply for each activation and re-activation of On-Demand Unlimited Incoming Calls feature.

Is the 20-Day Free Incoming Calls promotion applicable to all top-up channels?

You will enjoy this promotion when you top up more than $18 into your Main wallet via all electronic channels such as DBS/POSB ATM, AXS, SAM, iNETS, EZ-Link Kiosks, Happy EZ Top-Up and Happy Online Top-up.

Exclusion: $25 Happy Stars Plus & $28 Happy $128 Top-up Cards.

How do I know if my 20-Day Free Incoming Calls have been activated?

You will receive an SMS notification after your top-up e.g. Your FIC expiry: 15/04/2015 11:35:59

As an existing On-Demand Unlimited Incoming Call (VAS) subscriber, will 59¢ still be deducted daily from my Main wallet credit after I top up more than $18?

No deductions will be made during your 20-Day Free Incoming Calls period. After the 20-Day Free Incoming Calls period ends, the daily 59¢ deduction will resume. There will be no reactivation charge if you did not deactivate the On-Demand Unlimited Incoming Call (VAS).

I am an existing On-Demand Unlimited Incoming Call (VAS) subscriber. Do I need to deactivate my this VAS to enjoy the 20-Day Free Incoming Calls promotion?

No. You do not need to deactivate the VAS. Your On-Demand Unlimited Incoming Call VAS will resume once the 20-Day Free Incoming Calls period ends.

How do I extend the validity date of my 20-Day Free Incoming Calls?

To extend your 20-Day Free Incoming Calls, simply top up more than $18 onto your StarHub Prepaid SIM via the eligible top-up channels.

Is there a cap for the 20-Day Free Incoming Calls promotion?

Yes. You will enjoy up to a maximum of 60 days regardless of the number of top-ups you made during this period. This works out to a maximum of three activations.

Example: You performed 4 top-ups ($18) in a single day. You are only entitled 3 times capping, which is 60 days of free incoming calls, so the next 20 days will be forfeited.

What happens if I top up more than 3 times while enjoying the 20-Day Free Incoming Calls promotion?

You will only enjoy the 20-Day Free Incoming Calls entitlements up to a maximum of three times (accumulating up to 60 days). The excess will be forfeited.

I have topped up my prepaid SIM with Happy Stars top-up card. If I top-up again with another $18, how long can I enjoy free incoming calls for?

You will enjoy the 20-Day Free Incoming Calls after the 30-Day Free Incoming Calls with Happy Stars expires.

I have topped up my prepaid SIM with $18 with 20-Day Free Incoming Calls. If I top up again with a Happy Stars Top-up card, how long will I get to enjoy free incoming calls?

The 30-Day Free Incoming Calls with Happy Stars will take precedence. After this expires, Free Incoming Calls will continue for another 20 days.

I have topped up my prepaid SIM with Happy 55 top-up card with 10 days of Free Incoming Calls. If I top-up again with another $18, how long can I enjoy free incoming calls for?

The 10-Day Free Incoming Calls with Happy 55 will take precedence. After this expires, Free Incoming Calls will continue for another 20 days.


Validity Period

How do I know how many 20-Day Free Incoming Calls entitlement I have?

You can key *114# and select Option to query for the number of entitlements.

Will I be notified when the 20-Day Free Incoming Calls is ending?

Two days prior to the expiry of the promotion, you will receive an SMS alert reminding you to top-up.

Will my remaining 20-Day Free Incoming Calls still be valid after I have finished using my $18 credits during my last top-up?

Yes, you will continue to enjoy the remainder of the 20 days until it expires.


Cessation of Voicemail

Why has StarHub decided to cease Voicemail service?

We are continuously reviewing our services and with the declining usage of voicemail service, we will be discontinuing the below voicemail services:

  • Voicemail
  • Enhanced Voicemail
  • Power Mail

When will this be ceased?

The voicemail service will be discontinued from 30 November 2021.

What do I need to do?

Not to worry, no action is required by you. However, kindly note that any saved voicemail messages will be deleted.

Can I save my messages before Voicemail is removed?

The current retention period for voicemail messages is up to 7 days depending on the voice plan that you are subscribed to.
