3
What are the benefits of having the 2Gbps Fibre Broadband plan?

The two dedicated 1Gbps fibre broadband connections allow more bandwidth activities to take place concurrently without compromising on speed. They also allow you to extend your home WiFi coverage, especially with the two free units of StarHub Smart WiFi included as part of the plan.

This can be especially helpful under the following circumstances:

• In multi-storey houses that require additional fibre connections on the different levels (extra surface cabling needed).

• When there are multiple devices requiring fibre connection, for example, Smart TV, gaming console and streaming box.

• One user has heavy Internet usage, and a direct Internet LAN connection ensures sufficient dedicated bandwidth to their device, for example, a gamer or a home business owner.

4
How will the setup of the 2Gbps Fibre Broadband plan be like?

In a typical 2Gbps Fibre Broadband plan setup, ports 1 & 3 of the ONT will each have a dedicated fibre connection that can be connected to any suitable internet devices. For example, StarHub Smart WiFi, third-party routers, Smart TV, gaming console, computer and OTT box.

I noticed that the two 1Gbps fibre broadband connections are plugged in to port 1 and port 3 of the Optical Network Terminal. What are the maximum speeds I can expect from the 2Gbps Fibre Broadband when both ports are used concurrently?

You can refer to the table for the maximum speed of each port respectively.

Download speedCombined (Port 1 & 3) maximum up to 2Gbps (maximum 1Gbps each port)

You can check the broadband speed by conducting a speed test via StarHub's speedtest website or Speedtest by Ookla. For more information on the typical speed range for Home Broadband, you can refer to www.starhub.com/typical-broadband-speed-plans.

Note that there are a lot of factors that can affect the speed of your broadband connection. If you frequently experience speeds slower than the typical speed range, visit this page for basic troubleshooting guides and helpful tips to improve your connection at home.
