How to Setup:

You can monitor your router by using either the Aginet App or the web management page.
What is TP-Link Band Steering feature and how do I enable it?
TP-Link Band Steering feature allows the router to automatically assign connected devices to the WiFi band that provides the fastest speed. By balancing the load and assigning devices to the most appropriate band, Band Steering can reduce delays and interruptions.
When Band Steering is enabled, the router 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same SSID (network name) and password. You can enjoy a seamless connection between 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks.

Click save to save settings. |
When should I enable Band Steering?
We recommend enabling the Band Steering feature in the following scenarios:
1) When you are not sure which frequency band or which location provides the best wireless signal.
Wireless signals cannot stay stable all the time. Thus, sometimes it is necessary to change the frequency to get a better signal. If you are not sure which frequency band or which location provides the best wireless connection, try enabling the Band Steering feature on your TP-Link router.
2) When you have devices released at different times
Devices released at different periods have different compatibility with the 5GHz wireless network. Some older devices can only work well at the 2.4GHz wireless network. If you have many older devices mixed with the newer devices in the wireless network, your 2.4GHz network might be overloaded for piling too many devices on it. Band steering allows the router to automatically choose the most efficient band so that every device can reach its full potential.

We have discontinued the Smart Pro since 31 December 2023. Should you need a router to mesh with your existing Linksys MX 4200, please consider the Linksys MX 2001.
How many units of Smart Pro do I need for my house?
The number of units needed depends on various factors such as housing type, size and usage.
You can refer to the following table as the most common reference based on housing type and size.
2-4 bedrooms | 5 bedrooms and above | Landed and Multi-storey home | |
Estimated area (sqft) | 500 - 1,200 | 1,200 - 2,500 | 2,500 - 5,000 |
Estimated area (sqm) | 46 - 110 | 110 - 230 | 230-460 |
Minimum number of Smart WiFi Pro / Smart WiFi MX2 required | 1 | 2 | 3 |
Why Linksys’ website state coverage area per unit of MX4200 is much higher than what you have recommended (e.g. up to 2,700 sqft for 1 unit, 5,400 sqft for 2 units, up to 8,100 sqft for 3 units)?
Singapore households generally experience much higher 2.4GHz / 5GHz interference due to high-density dwelling type, relatively advanced population with many electronic gadgets and internet devices, traffic congestion due to Wi-Fi interference is more common, hence the coverage area is lesser than what is published on the Linksys website.
