Prepaid Registration

1. What is the Prepaid SIM card registration limit as of 1 April 2014?

From 1 April 2014, each customer can register up to 3 Prepaid SIM cards across all service providers. 

2. Why am I allowed to register 3 Prepaid SIM cards only?

As a new mandatory requirement by the authorities effective from 1 April 2014, each customer can only register up to 3 Prepaid SIM cards across all service providers.

3. Why must I register my Prepaid SIM cards?

As mandated by the authorities, all Prepaid SIM cards must be registered with the respective service providers.

4. What are the documents required for Prepaid SIM card registration?

Please bring along the original documents for registration:

Singaporeans

Pink identity cards or Passports

Singapore Permanent Residents

Blue identity cards

National Servicemen

SAF11B, SPF11B, or SCDF 11B

Work Permit Holders / Foreigners

Work Permit Identification cards, SPass, Employment Pass, EntrePass, Training Employment Pass, Personalized Employment Pass, Work Holiday Pass, Dependent’s Pass, Long Term Pass & Student Pass 

5. I have lost my NRIC. Can I register my Prepaid SIM card with my driving license?

No. As mandated by the authorities, only the original NRIC or passport are accepted as form of identification documents for Singaporeans and Permanent Residents. The other exception is for National Servicemen, who can produce their SAF 11B, SPF11B or SDDF1182 pass for registration.

6. What is the minimum age for Prepaid SIM Card registration?

The minimum age for Prepaid SIM card registration is 15 years old.

7. Are there any penalties for customers who do not produce identification documents for registration?

As mandated by the authorities, service providers are not permitted to sell Prepaid SIM cards to customers who do not produce identification documents at the point of purchase.

8. How can I check if my Happy Prepaid has been registered?

You may call our Happy Prepaid hotline at 9850 0000 and select option 4 in the main menu to check if your Prepaid SIM card has been registered with StarHub.

10. I have registered 10 Prepaid SIM cards before 1 April 2014. Can I retain all my SIM cards?

Yes, you may retain all of your existing registered Prepaid SIM cards. However, you will not be able to register for additional mobile Prepaid SIM cards from 1 April 2014 when the new regulatory requirement takes effect. Each customer can register up to 3 Prepaid SIM cards by customer identification at any one time.

11. I have registered 3 Prepaid SIM cards before 1 April 2014. Can I purchase a 4th Prepaid SIM card?

You will need to de-register one of your existing 3 Prepaid SIM cards registered with your identification document before you can register for a new Prepaid SIM card. Each customer can register up to 3 Prepaid SIM cards by customer identification at any one time.

12. I have 3 Prepaid SIM cards and have converted one of my Prepaid numbers to mobile post-paid subscription. Why can’t I register for a new Prepaid SIM card?

You will need to de-register the converted Mobile Prepaid SIM card before you can register for a new one. Each customer can register up to 3 Prepaid SIM cards by customer identification at any one time.

13. Where can I de-register my StarHub Happy Prepaid SIM card?

To de-register, please bring along your original identification document and your Happy Prepaid SIM card to any of these locatons:

14. I have registered 5 Mobile Prepaid SIM cards and need to replace a faulty SIM card. Can I keep all my 5 SIM cards? Can I get the replacement SIM card from another service provider?

Yes, you may replace your faulty Prepaid SIM card at our StarHub Retail Shops located at Marina Bay Link Mall/Plaza Singapura level 1 and basement/Tampines Mall/Nex/VivoCity. A replacement fee of $26.75 applies.

You will not be able to get the replacement SIM card from another service provider if you would like to keep all 5 SIM cards. Each customer can only register up to 3 Prepaid SIM cards in by customer identification at any one time.

The replacement SIM card can only be acquired from the service provider that has issued you the original SIM card.

15. I have registered 5 Prepaid SIM cards before 1 April 2014 I have received a notification from StarHub to re-register my details. Can I still keep all my 5 cards?

Yes, you can retain all 5 Prepaid SIM cards after re-registration.  Please visit any StarHub Customer Service Centre to re-register within the given time period.

16. Can I port one of my Prepaid numbers from another service provider to StarHub?

Yes, you can port an existing Prepaid card from another service provider to StarHub, as long as the total number of Prepaid SIM cards registered with your identification document is within the limit mandated by the authorities.

You may be required to de-register some of your Prepaid SIM cards if the total number of SIM cards owned exceeds the limit as mandated by the authorities.

Prepaid SIM Replacement

1. My Prepaid SIM card is faulty, where can I get it replaced? Is it chargeable?

Yes. You can get it replaced at the selected 6 SH Shops – Marina Bay Link Mall/Plaza Singapura level 1 and basement/Tampines Mall/Nex/VivoCity. A replacement cost of $26.75 will apply.

2. I would like to change my Prepaid SIM to micro SIM card, where can I do so?

Yes. You can get it changed at the selected 6 SH Shops – Marina Bay Link Mall/Plaza Singapura level 1 and basement/Tampines Mall/Nex/VivoCity. A replacement cost of $26.75 will apply.

3. I have lost my Prepaid SIM card, where can I get it replaced? Is it chargeable?

Yes. You can get it replaced at the selected 6 SH Shops – Marina Bay Link Mall/Plaza Singapura level 1 and basement/Tampines Mall/Nex/VivoCity. A replacement cost of $26.75 will apply.

4. My Prepaid SIM card is faulty, can you deliver the replacement SIM to me free?

No. We are unable to deliver the replacement SIM.  Customer will need to be at the designated shop location in person to replace the faulty Prepaid SIM.

5. When I replace my SIM card, will I be able to retain my number and balance credits?

Yes, you can retain your existing StarHub Prepaid number and balance credits.
