The 2026 school year for MOE kindergartens, primary, and secondary schools runs from 2nd January to 20th November, split across 4 standard terms.
If your child is starting Primary 1 or MOE Kindergarten 1, keep in mind their first day is Friday 2nd January. Because older siblings in Primary 2 to 6 only head back on Monday 5th January, you may want to plan ahead for transport or childcare logistics during those first few days of the year.

For older students, JC Year 2 and returning Millennia Institute (MI) students start their term on Monday 12th January. Incoming JC Year 1 and MI Year 1 students begin a bit later on Wednesday 4th February after posting results. Their year-end holiday starts on Saturday 28th November, while graduating cohorts finish up right after their GCE A-Level exams. You can find the complete schedule directly on the MOE website.
