When you purchase an iPhone 18 through StarHub and subscribe to SmartSupport, you can lock in a guaranteed minimum trade-in value when you upgrade your device in 2027 or 2028. The exact percentage of your device's RRP* that you're guaranteed depends on three things: your iPhone model, the year you choose to upgrade, and the condition of your device at trade-in.

Yes, you fully own the device if you purchase the device outright from StarHub. During the trade-in window in 2027 (minimum 50% value) or 2028 (minimum 30% value), you may choose to:

• Trade it in and receive the minimum guaranteed trade-in value
• Or keep the phone—the choice is yours.

No. Only your iPhone 18 series purchased from StarHub and registered with SmartSupport (with a continuous subscription from purchase till trade-in) is eligible for this program.  

The device must: 

  • Be in Good Working Condition1
  • Be factory reset 
  • Have a matching IMEI number as registered with SmartSupport at the point of purchase 

1Good Working Condition: The device is fully functional, with some minor wear and tear. 

You may request an upgrade anytime between 2027 and 2028, as long as your new device is purchased from StarHub between 1 January 2027 and 31 December 2028.

a.  Purchase a new device from StarHub
b.   Log in to the SmartSupport Portal and submit your upgrade request.
c.   Select the device with upgrade eligibility to trade in.
d.   Upload the receipt of your new device purchase
e.  Declare the condition of your device.
f.   Review the trade-in quote provided before submitting the request.
g.      Once you accept the quote, our team will verify your submission and receipt. We will then contact you to arrange a device pick-up.
h.      After collection, payment will be transferred to your PayNow account within 7 business days.


Note: Before handing over your device, please remember to back up your device data, factory reset your device, and deactivate any device locks

Receipt of new device:
Is issued by one of the following:

-      StarHub retail shop
-      StarHub online store
-      StarHub Exclusive Partners

Must include the purchased device's Make, Model, Capacity, Color, IMEI, and the date of purchase.

Must be dated 1st Jan 2027 or later

•          A specialist will verify your device’s condition.
•          If it matches your declared condition, your device will be collected.
•          If the conditions differ, a revised quote will be provided on the spot.
•          You can accept or reject the revised quote. There’s no obligation to proceed.

Yes, a non-good working condition fee applies if the device has: 

1.       Has discoloration, cracked or damaged body/glass
2.       Has display issues (burn-in, bleeding, dead pixels)
3.       Has impaired functionality
4.       Has non-genuine parts or missing components
5.       Has a swollen battery
6.       Has liquid damage or a bent/broken frame
7.       Fails to power on or charge
8.       Has been subject to modification
9.       Has damaged connectors or a faulty SIM reader

If your device falls under any of the above conditions, a Non-Good Working Order (NGWO) fee of $280 for non-foldable models will apply and be deducted from the applicable Good Working Condition trade-in value.

  • Disable all activation and device locking features such as ‘Find My iPhone’ or other such features like device pairing.
  • Factory reset your device to erase all personal data.
  •  Remove any SIM and memory cards.
  • You are still eligible for the minimum guaranteed trade-in value. If your device has been swapped/replaced by the manufacturer (OEM).  Simply update your new IMEI in the SmartSupport portal and upload the service request form you received from the OEM.

Your upgrade feature will remain valid as long as your SmartSupport subscription is still active and linked to the iPhone that you registered with (via its IMEI).

If SmartSupport is cancelled, your guaranteed trade-in value feature will be terminated. Please note that this feature cannot be reinstated once the SmartSupport subscription has been cancelled.

 

Payments are processed within 7 business days from the date your device is collected.

Your PayNow payment will be sent to the mobile number linked to your SmartSupport enrolment.

If you prefer to use a different PayNow mobile number, you may provide it when you arrange the device return.
