1. What is the trade-in value guarantee about?
You can lock in at least 30% trade-in value for your new iPhone* when you purchase the device through StarHub and subscribe to SmartSupport. You can choose to upgrade your device:
- Between 1 January 2026 and 31 December 2026 to receive 50% or more of your device’s RRP*
- Between 1 January 2027 and 31 December 2027 to receive 30% or more of your device’s RRP*

2. How do I lock in a minimum guaranteed trade-in value for my iPhone 17?
Simply purchase the latest generation of iPhone from StarHub with SmartSupport during the promotional period (until 31 December 2025).
You must remain subscribed to SmartSupport from the new iPhone purchase date until you’re ready to trade-in in order to qualify for the minimum trade-in guarantee.
3. How long is this minimum trade-in guarantee available with each iPhone purchase?
It is available from the official launch date of the latest generation of iPhone until 31 December 2025.
We understand stock may be limited at launch, so this extended window ensures all customers have a chance to secure their new iPhone and qualify for this at point of purchase.
4. Do I own the iPhone under this program?
Yes, you fully own the device. During the trade-in window in 2026 (with a value of 50% or more) or 2027 (with a value of 30% or more), you may choose to:
- Trade it in and receive the minimum guaranteed trade-in value
- Or keep the phone—the choice is yours.
5. Can I upgrade any phone to enjoy this trade-in value?
No. Only the latest generation of iPhone (iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone Air) purchased through StarHub and registered with SmartSupport (with a continuous subscription from purchase till trade-in) is eligible for this program.
The device must:
- Be in Good Working condition*
- Be factory reset
- Have a matching IMEI number as registered at the point of purchase
*Good Working Condition: The device is fully functional, with some minor wear and tear.
6. How do I proceed to upgrade my iPhone?
1. Log in to the SmartSupport Portal here and submit your upgrade request.
2. Choose your preferred return option:
- Arrange for a courier pickup, or
- Schedule a drop-off at an authorised centre.
3. Once your device has been collected, the trade-in value can only be applied to offset the purchase of a new device from StarHub.
7. My iPhone is damaged. Am I still eligible?
Yes, a non-good working condition fee applies if the device has:
- Has discoloured, cracked or damaged body/glass
- Has display issues (burn-in, bleeding, dead pixels)
- Has impaired functionality
- Has non-genuine parts or missing components
- Has a swollen battery
- Has liquid damage or a bent/broken frame
- Fails to power on or charge
- Has been subject to modification
- Has damaged connectors or a faulty SIM reader
- If your device falls under any of the above conditions, a non-good working condition fee of $280 will apply
8. What should I do before trading in my iPhone?
- Disable all activation and device locking features such as ‘Find My iPhone’ or other such features like device pairing.
- Factory reset your device to erase all personal data.
- Remove any SIM and memory cards.
9. What if I’ve swapped or replaced my iPhone through SmartSupport? (in warranty swap?)
Yes, you’re still eligible for the minimum guaranteed trade-in value. If your device has been swapped/replaced by the manufacturer (OEM), simply update your new IMEI in the SmartSupport portal and upload the service request form you received from the OEM.
10. What happens to my upgrade feature if I recontract my mobile plan?
Your upgrade feature will remain valid as long as your SmartSupport subscription is still active and linked to the iPhone that you registered with (via its IMEI).
11. What if I cancel my SmartSupport subscription?
If SmartSupport is cancelled, your guaranteed trade-in value feature will be terminated. Please note that this feature cannot be reinstated once the SmartSupport subscription has been cancelled.
