1. What is the trade-in value guarantee about?
You can lock in at least 30% trade-in value for your iPhone 17 when you purchase the device through StarHub and subscribe to SmartSupport. You can choose to upgrade your device:
- Between 1 January 2026 and 31 December 2026 to receive 50% or more of your device’s RRP*
- Between 1 January 2027 and 31 December 2027 to receive 30% or more of your device’s RRP*

2. How do I lock in a minimum guaranteed trade-in value for my iPhone 17?
Simply purchase your iPhone 17 from StarHub with SmartSupport during the promotional period (until 31 December 2025).
You must remain subscribed to SmartSupport from the iPhone 17 purchase date until you’re ready to trade-in in order to qualify for the minimum trade-in guarantee.
3. How do I know if my SmartSupport for iPhone 17 includes a minimum trade-in guarantee?
Your SmartSupport includes a minimum trade-in guarantee only if you purchase iPhone 17 and SmartSupport between official launch date of iPhone 17 and 31 Dec 2025.
4. Do I own the iPhone under this program?
Yes, you fully own the device. During the trade-in window in 2026 (minimum 50% value) or 2027 (minimum 30% value), you may choose to:
- Trade it in and receive the minimum guaranteed trade-in value
- Or keep the phone—the choice is yours.
5. Can I upgrade any phone to enjoy this trade-in value?
No. Only your iPhone 17 or iPhone Air registered with SmartSupport (with a continuous subscription from purchase till trade-in) is eligible for this program.
The device must:
- Be in Good Working condition*
- Be factory reset
- Have a matching IMEI number as registered at the point of purchase
*Good Working Condition: The device is fully functional, with some minor wear and tear.
6. When can I proceed to upgrade my iPhone 17 after purchasing my new device from StarHub?
You may request an upgrade anytime between 2026 and 2027, as long as your new device was purchased from StarHub between 1 January 2026 and 31 December 2027.
Please note that the device value used for the upgrade may vary over time.
7. How do I proceed to upgrade my iPhone?
- Purchase a new device from StarHub
- Log in to the SmartSupport Portal and submit your upgrade request.
- Select the device you wish to trade in.
- Upload the receipt of your new device purchase (refer to the next FAQ for receipt requirements).
- Indicate the condition of your device.
- Review the trade-in quote provided before submitting the request.
- Once you accept the quote, our team will verify your submission and receipt. We will then contact you to arrange a device pick-up.
- After collection, payment will be transferred to your PayNow account within 2 business days.
*Before handing over your device, please remember to back up your device data, factory reset your device and deactivate any device locks
8. What is the receipt requirement?
To complete the upgrade process, you must submit a receipt that meets the following criteria:
- The receipt must be issued by one of the following:
- StarHub retail shop
- StarHub online store
- StarHub Exclusive Partners
- The receipt must include the purchased device's Make, Model, Capacity, Color, IMEI, and the date of purchase.
- The receipt must be dated 1st Jan 2026 or later
9. What happens during the pick up of your device?
- A specialist will verify your device’s condition.
- If it matches your declared condition, your device will be collected.
- If the conditions differ, a revised quote will be provided on the spot.
- You can accept or reject the revised quote. There’s no obligation to proceed.
10. My iPhone is damaged. Am I still eligible?
Yes, a non-good working condition fee applies if the device has:
- Has discoloured, cracked or damaged body/glass
- Has display issues (burn-in, bleeding, dead pixels)
- Has impaired functionality
- Has non-genuine parts or missing components
- Has a swollen battery
- Has liquid damage or a bent/broken frame
- Fails to power on or charge
- Has been subject to modification
- Has damaged connectors or a faulty SIM reader
If your device falls under any of the above conditions, a non-good working condition fee of $280 will apply and offset against total trade-in value.
11. What should I do before trading in my iPhone?
- Disable all activation and device locking features such as ‘Find My iPhone’ or other such features like device pairing.
- Factory reset your device to erase all personal data.
- Remove any SIM and memory cards.
12. What if I’ve swapped or replaced my iPhone 17 through SmartSupport? (or in warranty swap?)
Yes, you’re still eligible for the minimum guaranteed trade-in value. If your device has been swapped/replaced by the manufacturer (OEM), simply update your new IMEI in the SmartSupport portal and upload the service request form you received from the OEM.
13. What happens to my upgrade feature if I recontract my mobile plan?
Your upgrade feature will remain valid as long as your SmartSupport subscription is still active and linked to the iPhone that you registered with (via its IMEI).
14. What if I cancel my SmartSupport subscription?
If SmartSupport is cancelled, your guaranteed trade-in value feature will be terminated. Please note that this feature cannot be reinstated once the SmartSupport subscription has been cancelled.
15. When will I receive my payment via PayNow?
- Payments are processed within 2 business days from the date your device is collected.
- Your PayNow payment will be sent to the mobile number linked to your SmartSupport enrolment.
- If you prefer to use a different PayNow mobile number, you may provide it when our team contacts you to arrange the device return.
