Connecting Tones

  1. What is Connecting Tones service?
    Connecting Tones is a mobile value-added service that allows your callers to hear a song when they call you on your mobile phone.
  2. How do I subscribe to Connecting Tones service?
    If you are already a Prepaid/Postpaid StarHub Mobile customer, you can subscribe to Connecting Tones service via any of the following methods:

    1. Dial the Connecting Tones Hotline number at 9380 0000^;
    2. Dial *138# and press SEND; or
    3. Contact our Customer Service Consultants at 1633.
    4. If you are not a StarHub Mobile customer yet, when applying for your new mobile line, you can subscribe to the Connecting Tones service at any StarHub Shop or StarHub Exclusive Partner outlet.

    Note: Non-StarHub (SingTel or M1 fixed & mobile customers) and Non-Connecting Tones service customers will not be able to call 93800000^ or dial *138#.
  3. What are the charges for Connecting Tones?

    ** Service subscription fee for the first month is FREE for postpaid customers until 31st March 2012.
    Note:
    New subscribers to Connecting Tones will be charged service subscription fee only for the first month when they activate the service. For subsequent months, subscribers will only pay for the Connecting Tones they have purchased in their libraries or the minimum service subscription fee if there are no purchased Connecting Tones in their libraries for that calendar month.
  4. How long will the Connecting Tones last and how will I know if they are renewed?
    Connecting Tones are valid for one calendar month and can be renewed. You will receive a renewal SMS 5 days before the first day of each month, giving you the option to either (a) retain the same Connecting Tones; or (b) delete the Connecting Tones and/or (c) purchase new Connecting Tones.

    For Postpaid subscribers:

    For Prepaid subscribers:

    Activated the Connecting Tones service for $2.14 and purchased one Connecting Tone chargeable at $2.14 per month.

    For Postpaid subscribers:

    Second Month
    You decided to retain the same Connecting Tones.
    Service Subscription fee of $2.14 (Postpaid/Prepaid) is waived. You are charged for the one Connecting Tones purchased $2.14 (Postpaid/Prepaid). $2.14 (Postpaid/Prepaid)

  5. What happens if I decide not to buy/renew any Connecting Tones this month? Will I be charged?
    For postpaid subscribers, the service subscription fee of $2.14 will be charged to your mobile bill. For GREEN Prepaid subscribers, the service subscription fee of $2.14 will be deducted from your card's balance. Both Postpaid and GREEN Prepaid subscribers will enjoy two FREE StarHub Connecting Tones.
  6. Can I preview the Connecting Tones before I subscribe to the service?
    Yes, you can visit our website at www.starhub.com/connectingtones to preview all the Connecting Tones. If you are already subscribed to the service, you can also dial our Connecting Tones Hotline at 9380 0000^ to browse and purchase new Connecting Tones.
  7. What is "StarHub Connecting Tones"?
    "StarHub Connecting Tones" are the two FREE default tones provided by StarHub when you subscribe to the Connecting Tones service. The StarHub Connecting Tones are played at random and StarHub may change the songs periodically.
  8. How can I change the "StarHub Connecting Tones" to my preferred Connecting Tones?
    "StarHub Connecting Tones" are given FREE with Connecting Tones subscription and cannot be changed. You can purchase new Connecting Tones and select your purchased Connecting Tones to play if you do not wish to use “StarHub Connecting Tones”.

    You can select your preferred default Connecting Tones by doing one of the following:

    You can select your default as "StarHub Connecting Tones" by visiting our website at www.starhub.com/connectingtones.
  11. What will my callers hear if I delete all my purchased Connecting Tones?
    If you delete all your purchased Connecting Tones, the "StarHub Connecting Tones" will be played as default.
  12. I have purchased a new Connecting Tones, why do my callers still hear the "StarHub Connecting Tones"?
    If you have not set your purchased Connecting Tones as your default Connecting Tones, the "StarHub Connecting Tones" will be played.
  13. How do I know when is the time to renew my purchased Connecting Tones?
    You will receive a reminder SMS 5 days before the first day of each month. In this SMS, you will be informed of
    the total number of Connecting Tones you have in your library and how much you will need to pay next month.

    You can then decide to (a) retain, (b) delete and/or (c) purchase new Connecting Tones by:
    For example, if you choose to retain the same purchased Connecting Tones(s) already in your personal library, no action is needed from you. Your purchased Connecting Tones(s) will be renewed for the following month.

    Note: for GREEN Prepaid subscriber: Please ensure there is sufficient card balance for deduction to avoid service suspension. If the Connecting Tones service is suspended for 90 days, you will be unsubscribed from the Connecting Tones service automatically.
  14. If I purchase 3 Connecting Tones on 5, 15, 29 of the month respectively, when will I receive the reminder SMS and what is the validity period of all 3 Connecting Tones?
    You will receive the reminder SMS in the following month, 5 days before the first of the subsequent month. Hence, if your Connecting Tones are purchased on 5, 15 or 29 November, you will receive the reminder SMS on 26 December; requesting you to (a) retain, (b) delete and/or (c) purchase new Connecting Tones for January 2012.
  15. What is the maximum number of Connecting Tones I can purchase each month?
    You can purchase up to a maximum of 10 Connecting Tones each month.
  16. I have already purchased 10 Connecting Tones, what should I do if I want to purchase more Connecting Tones?
    You can retain a maximum number of 10 Connecting Tones in your library. To purchase new Connecting Tones, please delete some from your personal library.
  17. Can I set different Connecting Tones for specific callers?
    Yes. You can customize different Connecting Tones for different callers, by visiting our website at www.starhub.com/connectingtones. There are a total of 5 Caller Groups and you can assign up to 10 numbers for each Caller Group.

    Simply follow these steps:
    Step 1: Assign a specific Connecting Tones to the Caller Groups.
    Step 2: Add callers' numbers to the Caller Groups.

    Note: Your selected default Connecting Tones will still be played for all other callers not added in your Caller Groups.
  18. Can my overseas callers hear my Connecting Tones?
    Yes. Your overseas friends can hear your purchased Connecting Tones.
  19. Can my family and friends hear my purchased Connecting Tones when I am overseas?
    Yes. Your family and friends can hear your Connecting Tones when you are overseas. However, it also depends on the overseas network operators supporting our service and some locations might not support.
  20. What is "Special Occasion Tones"?
    "Special Occasion Tones" is a unique function which allows you to assign specific Connecting Tones to specific (a) mobile numbers, (b) caller group or (c) all callers to be played at a specified date and time.

    For example, during the Christmas season you can set to play your purchased Christmas Connecting Tones from
    1 to 26 Dec. You can also set preferred purchased Connecting Tones to any time of the day; Set a professional Connecting Tones to play during office hours and a funky cheeky Connecting Tones to play after work.
  21. Can I add a friend with Caller Number Non-Display (Private Number) / an Overseas Number for my "Caller Group", "Special Occasion Tones" & "Exclusion List"?
    No. The services are only applicable for local telephone and/or mobile numbers with Caller Number Display.
  22. What is "Purchase History"?
    "Purchase History" allows you to view all your purchased Connecting Tones(s) transaction(s) for the past 3 months.
  23. Can I dial the Connecting Tones hotline (+65 9380 0000) / *138# when I'm overseas?
    Yes, you can. However, please note that prevailing roaming call charges will apply.

    Note: Usage of *138# is subjected to overseas operators.
  24. I am a MultiSIM subscriber, can I subscribe to Connecting Tones service?
    No. MultiSIM and Connecting Tones services are mutually exclusive. You will not be able to activate with MultiSIM services with Connecting Tones service and vice-versa.
  25. Why can't I preview and purchase Connecting Tones via my Safari web browser?
    Currently, the Connecting Tones website is only compatible on Internet Explorer. You might encounter problem if you are using other web browsers such as Safari, Firefox, Mozilla, etc.

    Please ensure that you are using Internet Explorer when accessing the Connecting Tones website.
  26. I'm a prepaid subscriber and I have $1 balance in my prepaid account. Why did my Connecting Tones service get suspended / terminated?
    To keep your Connecting Tones service, you will need to maintain sufficient balance in your prepaid account for the Connecting Tones subscription fee or Connecting Tones renewal. If there is insufficient balance (i.e. at least $2.14), your Connecting Tones service will be suspended and eventually your Connecting Tones service will be terminated after 90 days of deduction failure.

    Please kindly top-up to continue the Connecting Tones service. Once a top-up is done, $2.14 will be deducted from your prepaid balance, and your Connecting Tones service will be re-activated. Thereafter, you will be able to purchase new Connecting Tones by visiting our website or calling the Connecting Tones Hotline.

    Note: Prepaid Connecting Tones service deduction will be on 2nd of every month.
  27. I'm a prepaid subscriber and I have 3 Connecting Tones in my personal library. Why is it that only one Connecting Tones was renewed?
    To renew all your 3 Connecting Tones in your personal library, you will need to maintain sufficient balance in your prepaid account (i.e. $6.42 for 3 Connecting Tones). The numbers of Connecting Tones that will be automatically renewed for the next month will depend on your available prepaid account. For example, if you have $3 in your prepaid balance, only one of your Connecting Tones will be renewed and there will be a deduction of $2.14. The remaining 2 Connecting Tones will be deleted.

    Note: Your last (newest) purchased Connecting Tones will be renewed and the first (older) puchased Connecting Tones will be deleted. To renew all your Connecting Tones in your personal library, please ensure you have sufficient balance in your prepaid account, Prepaid Connecting Tones service deduction will be on the 2nd of every month.
  28. Do I need to maintain a minimum prepaid balance after the Connecting Tones purchase and/or subscription and renewal fees deduction?
    No. There is no minimum prepaid balance required.
  29. How can I unsubscribe the Connecting Tones service?
    You can unsubscribe the Connecting Tones service via these methods:
    • Dial the Connecting Tones Hotline number at 9380 0000^
    • Dial *138*0# and press SEND or
    • Contact our Customer Service Consultants at 1633
  30. How will I be charged if I unsubscribe the Connecting Tones service in the middle of a calendar month?
    You will be charged for the full monthly subscription fee, there is no pro-rated refund on the service subscription fee.
  31. Why can I not send a gift to a fellow StarHub subscriber?
    You can only send a Connecting Tone as a gift to another Connecting Tone subscriber.
  32. What is the charging model for sending a Connecting Tone as a gift?
    The sender of the Connecting Tone as gift will be charged for the first month. The recipient will be charged for subsequent months.

^ If there are more than 5 SMSes sent to Singapore mobile number(s) within the same day, the 6th – 15th SMS sent will enjoy a discount of $0.05 off the prevailing rate per SMS sent. Note: This discount will only be given once daily and only applicable to the 6th to 15th SMS sent to Singapore mobile number(s) within the same day.
