Singapore Local Web Sites vs International Web Sites

MaxOnline's local bandwidth upgrade allows web traffic going to local web sites to travel on a much larger ‘Internet highway' than before, up to 100Mbps*

What do we mean by local sites? It means that the website you visit is hosted and routed within Singapore. Local hosted sites refer to web servers residing in the Singapore network, and local routed means when these servers deliver their content (web pages, videos, games etc) to you, the path of delivery is within Singapore network. Please note that some websites may be locally hosted but the network delivery path may involve a combination of local and overseas routes.

When you visit a website (or a web page), your PC sends a request to the web server hosting the web page. The web server then sends the web page to your PC browser. The "speed" of sending the web page is affected by many factors including the web server, your PC, and all other intermediary devices (routers, gateways, firewalls etc.) between the web server and your PC.

Factors affecting the web server include server's hardware/software specification, and its Internet bandwidth. Factors affecting your PC include your Internet bandwidth, PC hardware/software specifications, and your home network setup. Factors affecting the intermediary devices include their hardware/software specification, interconnect bandwidth with each devices and the routing or switching policy.

The local bandwidth upgrade increases the bandwidth to the local Internet links that connect to the MaxOnline network, enabling you to have a better surfing experience when you visit these local websites

The international bandwidth is not affected by the upgrade and you will continue to enjoy the usual experience according to your MaxOnline plans. When visiting international websites, generally with more routes and intermediary devices, you may not get the same experience compare to visiting local websites.
