Singapore, 12 April 2023 – StarHub yesterday inked a new partnership with the Singapore Industrial and Services Employees’ Union (SISEU), reinforcing its strong support for people development. The collaboration will involve the setting up of a Company Training Committee (CTC) comprising StarHub management, union representatives, and other industry stakeholders, that will identify the training needs of StarHub employees and aim to plug the skills gaps.

This is the latest of StarHub’s learning and development initiatives, which range from leadership training to technical skills competency development. One example is the Leadership Accelerator Programme (LEAP), a 12-month journey designed to accelerate the development of key talents and build leaders for StarHub. Each key talent has a personal development plan that is tailored for their own growth, and are supported by their direct manager, a Senior Leadership Team development sponsor from StarHub, as well as a professional coach throughout this journey.

For its unwavering dedication in building up its employees, StarHub received the Best People-centric Culture & Best Leadership Development award in EngageRocket's Workplace Transformation Awards 2021.

StarHub and SISEU signed the Memorandum of Understanding at StarHub Green yesterday, during a visit by NTUC Deputy Secretary-General and Minister of State (MOS) Desmond Tan, who is also the Executive Secretary (ES) of SISEU. ES Desmond Tan also interacted with employees including Mr Noraschid Bin Abdul Ghani, who recently joined StarHub as Senior Engineer in Cloud Infrastructure following a training programme with a leading cloud provider.

“At StarHub, we firmly believe in developing our people, and have dedicated resources set aside for training and upskilling. We are thrilled to take this one step further with our new partnership with SISEU, which will see us work closely together in the CTC to enhance StarHub’s talent management and workforce training programmes,” said Tan Toi Chia, Chief of People, Organisation and Communications, StarHub.

“We are glad to welcome StarHub on board the Company Training Committee, which acts as a springboard for the company to develop a more innovative business transformation plan and ensure that they are future-ready with a resilient workforce. Through this partnership, both StarHub and its employees can seek to gain mutual benefits, as the company can provide better service to its customers; and nurture and retain its talents, while workers will have the opportunities to achieve better wages, work prospects and welfare,” said ES Desmond Tan.
