Singapore, 29 October 2007 – StarHub today announced that it will screen Hindi blockbuster movies via a free preview of the Hindi movie channel - STAR Gold, from 2 to 11 November 2007. The preview will coincide with Deepavali, the Indian festival of lights that falls on 8 November. During this period, StarHub Digital Cable customers can enjoy the programmes on STAR Gold, simply by tuning in to StarHub’s Preview Channel, Channel 01.

STAR Gold (Channel 42) made its debut on StarHub’s cable TV platform on 4 October this year, and offers a quality mix of Bollywood blockbusters round-the-clock. Besides Singapore, the channel is available in India, Pakistan, Middle-East and the United Kingdom.

During the free preview, viewers will be able to watch their favourite Bollywood stars, including Hrithik Roshan as a masked crusader in the action-adventure hit “Krrish”, Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor in the action-thriller “Don – The Chase Begins”, and Shahrukh Khan, Rani Mukherjee and Amitabh Bachchan in “Paheli” - India’s entry for the Oscars in 2006 (please see Annex A below for a selection of programme highlights).

STAR Gold is available to StarHub Digital Cable customers on the Digital Add-on Tier (Specialty Group) for a monthly subscription fee of $8 ($8.56 with GST), and subscribers to STAR Gold will receive complimentary use of the first digital set-top box. Existing StarHub Digital Cable customers can call 1633 to add the channel to their subscription package, while new customers who wish to subscribe to StarHub Digital Cable can call 1630.

Krrish

4 November (Sunday), 8 pm

Starring: Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Naseeruddin Shah, Rekha, Sharat Saxena, Puneet issar, Manini Mishra

“Krrish” set numerous box office records worldwide, and Hrithik Roshan and his director-father Rakesh Roshan won numerous accolades for this Indian epic, including Best Actor and Best Director at the Filmfare Awards. The highly anticipated sequel to the smash-hit Koi Mil Gaya, “Krrish” stars Hrithik Roshan as the masked crusader and reluctant superhero - Krishna (Krrish), who uses his superpowers to fight crime and save lives. When Krrish encounters Priya (Priyanka Chopra), an ambitious young journalist, he is smitten by her beauty and follows her to Singapore to profess his love. In doing so, he unwittingly saves Singaporeans trapped in a fire, and also goes in pursuit of an evil Dr Siddhant Arya (Naseeruddin Shah), who threateningly builds a machine with the potential to destroy mankind.

Don – The Chase Begins

Based on the successful classic of the same name which featured the legendary Amitabh Bachchan, the contemporary and stylishly crafted “Don”, features Shah Rukh Khan playing a double role in one of the most defining performances of his career. Shah Rukh Khan is also teamed for the first time with former Miss World, Priyanka Chopra. Drug trafficking between Asia and Europe is at an all-time high when Don (Shah Rukh Khan) - a ruthless drug mafia in Malaysia, is captured and held by the police in a secret location. Unknown to the mafia and police, Don’s look-alike, Vijay (also played by Shah Rukh Khan), is polished by the head of a police unit, De Silva (Boman Irani), and sent to take down Don's gang. Vijay infiltrates a drug cartel and manages to give De Silva all the information he needs to bring it down. However, De Silva is killed in a bizarre twist of fate, and Vijay comes to terms with the horrifying realization that both police and gang are out to nab him.

Family

"Family" follows the lives of two very different families and examines the tragic consequences that arise when their lives intertwine. Amitabh Bachchan plays Viren Sahai, a mafia chief living apart from his equally notorious family, while Akshay Kumar plays Shekhar, a caring brother to Aryan (Aryeman) and devoted husband to his doctor wife Bhumika (Bhumika Chawla). When Viren accidentally kills Shekhar, Aryeman vows revenge, and along with his friends, abducts Viren’s family.

Swades

Starring: Shahrukh Khan, Gayatri Joshi

The India of “Swades” is colourful and complex, and it is to this environment that Mohan Bhargava (Shah Rukh Khan), a bright young scientist working as project manager in NASA, returns to, on a quest to find his childhood nanny. What begins as a simple mission prompted by nostalgia and affection turns into a journey to the heartland of rural India. Mohan befriends the locals and the village children, whose future is inextricably linked with that of the country. Soon, Mohan realizes that it is his temperament as well as his understanding of societal complexities that can drive the villagers to participate in a movement to better their lives.

Paheli

4 November (Sunday), 12am

Starring: Shahrukh Khan, Rani Mukherjee, Juhi Chawla, Amitabh Bachchan

Paheli was India’s Oscar entry in 2006 and stars Rani Mukherjee as Lachchi, an effervescent young woman who weds Shah Rukh Khan’s career-driven Kisan. After their wedding night, Kisan packs and sets off to manage his business interests abroad. Meanwhile, a ghost who is in love with Lachchi takes on her husband's appearance and enters her life.
