Singapore, 23 June 2000 -- In the new era of wireless communications, what does it mean to the modern day individual to live a mobile Internet lifestyle? StarHub, Singapore’s new info-communications player has the answer - iPower. Featuring more than 60 innovative WAP (Wireless Access Protocol) services, ranging from financial news to entertainment, iPower boasts the widest selection of WAP applications in Singapore.

To deliver these services to end users, StarHub has partnered with many content and application providers. One of which is Dining In Singapore, Singapore’s premier multi-cuisine food delivery service that is launching its WAP food delivery portal in Singapore today.

With this, StarHub WAP service will provide customers with a completely different dining experience withiPower users will be able to view menus and make delivery orders from more than 25 of Singapore's best known restaurants through their WAP-enabled mobile phones without having to step out of their home or office.

Said Mr Peter Kaliaropoulos, Senior Vice President (Commercial Operations) at StarHub, "Today, we are seeing fixed platform e-commerce applications available on PCs shifting towards wireless devices, like mobile phones and PDAs. We recognize that our customers want real time services now and demand instant connectivity to a variety of content and applications that can help them manage their lifestyle while on the move. StarHub’s iPower addresses users’ requirements as they are able to gain online access to emails, financial services, news and entertainment instantaneously via their WAP phones anytime, anywhere."

Since its launch in April this year, StarHub has expanded its list of services for iPower from 39 to more than 60, recognizing that customers will continue to demand more applications and content similarly to the trends observed on the fixed Internet world.

To date, StarHub has signed up with an extensive list of partners, including einfoAsia.com (which brings the latest news updates and results at Euro2000 to StarHub’s iPower users), and more recently, Grid Technologies (which provides a useful reference to Singapore’s street maps on the iPower plan).

According to Mr Kaliaropoulos, "The partners we work with will provide that differentiating edge for us. Ultimately, the value we bring to the consumers through these partnerships, is quality content, applications and services that will enhance their lifestyle."

Added Mr Kaliaropoulos, "To help consumers gain a better understanding about the usage and convenience that WAP services offer, StarHub is rolling out a consumer education roadshow series consumer on its iPower plan. The first exhibition will be held at Suntec City (Galleria Dome) from 23 to 25 June 2000 from 11am to 9 pm daily. This is the first platform we are embarking on to educate and inform the public on living in the modern wireless Internet world."
