HBO On Demand debuts on 22 September

Singapore, 18 September 2008 – StarHub, Singapore’s leading pay TV operator, has revealed prices for the US TV series on its recently launched Video-On-Demand platform. In addition, fans of hit TV series from CBS Paramount International Television can also catch their favourite content online.

StarHub’s Demand TV – comprising Video-On-Demand (one-off purchases of standalone programmes or series) and On Demand Channels (unlimited library access for a flat monthly fee), was launched on 20 August 2008.

Video-On-Demand

Through a partnership with CBS Paramount International Television, StarHub will be the first operator in Singapore to offer the latest seasons of the immensely popular CSI franchise – CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Miami and CSI: New York, as well as Numb3rs to local viewers. The hit TV series will be available on Demand TV’s Video-On-Demand platform as early as 24 hours after their releases in the United States.  StarHub TV customers can purchase each episode of these TV series at a low $2 ($2.14 with GST), and enjoy 48 hours of unlimited viewing of that particular episode.

The new season of CSI: Miami will be the first US TV series to be offered as part of StarHub’s Video-on-Demand, and viewers can expect to catch the first episode on 24 September 2008, a day after the episode airs in the United States.

In addition to the new seasons, viewers can also choose to purchase the first season of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Miami and CSI: New York on Demand TV’s Video-On-Demand platform.

To stretch each dollar for consumers, StarHub is offering a Demand TV Pass whereby customers can purchase a $40 Demand TV Pass in exchange for $55 worth of Demand TV credits [1] , representing 37.5 percent extra value. StarHub customers also have additional choices in the forms of a $10 Demand TV Pass or a $20 Demand TV Pass which will give $12 and $25 worth of credits respectively [2] .  Each Demand TV Pass can be utilised for any of StarHub’s Video-On-Demand content which also include sports, movies and Asian dramas.

“We are proud of the US TV series offerings on our Video-On-Demand platform. Not only do we provide top-rated titles at the best value, we are also able to deliver the content within a very brief window so that fans of the hit programmes need not wait long to find out the latest progress of their favourite series,” said Mr Patrick Lim, StarHub’s Head of Cable TV Service.

US TV Series Online

In line with its constant efforts to offer more choice and convenience to consumers, StarHub will also offer new seasons of the CSI franchise and Numb3rs via StarHub TV Online, to its MaxOnline customers. This would enable MaxOnline customers to enjoy access to the hit series as early as 24 hours after their releases in the United States. Similarly, each episode will be priced at $2 ($2.14 with GST), and they can enjoy 48 hours of unlimited viewing of each purchased episode.

As part of its Demand TV service, StarHub is presently offering five On Demand Channels - BPL On Demand, Disney Channel @ Play, Ruyi Hokkien Channel On Demand, TVBJ On Demand and VV Drama On Demand. Subscription to these channels gives customers a month's access to a library of programmes that they can watch whenever they like and as often as they wish.

A sixth channel – HBO On Demand, will be launched on 22 September 2008.  HBO On Demand will be available at no additional cost to customers subscribing to The HBO PAK (HBO, HBO Family, HBO Hits and HBO Signature).
