StarHub Mobile customers to benefit from this new value-added service

Singapore, 20 May 2004 - CNN News goes ‘mobile’ in Singapore as StarHub today introduced a complete mobile offering of CNN News to its postpaid mobile customers, who will be the first to know about the latest news and happenings in the world even while on the move.

With immediate effect, StarHub’s customers will be able to access CNN News Information Service from their mobile phones and enjoy having at their fingertips the latest news including top stories, regional and world news, as well as business and financial news. In addition, they can receive a wide range of useful information on sports, entertainment, technology updates, health news and world weather. And all these are delivered to them via SMS, Gee! or Java download on their mobile phones.

SMS delivery allows practically everyone with a basic SMS-enabled mobile phone to request for CNN News via an on-demand or regular basis. Those who access CNN News Information Service on StarHub’s Gee! Menu* via GPRS or WAP access, are able to get useful information in addition to news reports. For greater convenience, customers can choose to have top news stories presented in ticker format where headlines are scrolled across their mobile screen for easy reading and to read any story in full, all they have to do is to click on the ticker. To get started, customers simply download the Java application that will enable them to access the CNN Live service.

“StarHub is constantly on the lookout for exciting and innovative services that enrich and enhance our customers’ mobile lifestyle. We recognise that fast and accurate news and information are crucial to the people in a busy cosmopolitan city like Singapore, so it is important for them to have quick and easy access to breaking news and information at all times. We decided to bring CNN News Information Service to all our customers, ranging from individuals who consume news and information in basic format on their SMS-enabled mobile phones, to those who want to view the latest updates in colour and with pictures on their more sophisticated mobile phones, “ said Chan Kin Hung, Head of Mobile Services at StarHub. “Only StarHub can deliver and fully empower customers with the latest news through hubbing with our ‘live’ CNN News on StarHub CableTV and our delivery of CNN News on their mobile phones.”
