As part of the overall effort for all TV Broadcast to go digital, all TV programmes and Free-to-air channels shown on the Analogue platform will be ceased on 31 December 2018 and will be shown in digital format from 1 January 2019.

Free-to-air channels on Analogue platform

1. Why am I seeing the word “Analogue” and why has my screen become smaller on the free-to-air channels?

This is part of Mediacorp’s effort to encourage Singaporeans who are still on the Analogue platform to switch to Digital TV. If you are watching free-to-air channels using StarHub TV set-top boxes, you are already on Digital TV. As such, you can ignore the Analogue watermark. If you are watching free-to-air channels by plugging directly to a StarHub cable point, you are still on the Analogue platform and will need to switch to Digital TV to continue watching free-to-air channels upon the cessation of Analogue. 2. I am a new customer. How will this affect me?

All StarHub TV customers are already on Digital TV. You will not be affected by the cessation of the Analogue platform.

3. I am currently on a StarHub non-HD set-top box, what do I do to continue watching the free-to-air channels?

All StarHub TV customers, including those who are still using StarHub non-HD set-top boxes, are already on Digital TV. You may want to swap your StarHub SD set-top box to a StarHub HD set-top box to enjoy crystal clear images and vivid colours. Plus, you will also get to access channels that are only available in HD under your subscription plan. To swap your StarHub SD set-top box, you can contact your Account Manager or Channel Partner.

4. What are the benefits of using a StarHub HD set-top box?

HDTV (High Definition TV) offers at least 4 times greater details than SDTV (Standard Definition TV). You will experience clearer images and more vivid colours. Plus, you will also get to access channels that are only available in HD under your subscription plan. We have over 60 channels on StarHub TV which are only available in HD.

5. Why am I not able to view subtitles on all the free-to-air channels?

As part of the Analogue cessation exercise, customers who are on SD set-top boxes will no longer be able to receive subtitles on all free-to-air programmes with effect from 4 June 2018.

6. I am currently using StarHub SD set-top box. If I do not swap it to a StarHub HD set-top box, what will happen next?

You will still be able to continue watching StarHub channels and free-to-air channels in SD (Standard Definition). However, please note that with effect from 4 June 2018, there will be no subtitles available on all free-to-air programmes.

7. How do I change my StarHub SD set-top box to a HD set-top box?

You can contact your Account Manager or Channel Partner to swap your StarHub SD set-top box to a StarHub HD set-top box.

8. I am currently using a StarHub cable point to watch the free-to-air channels. How will I be affected after 31 December 2018?

StarHub understands that all offices in Singapore are encouraged to switch to Digital TV by 31 December 2018, as the existing Analogue TV signals will be switched off. 1. Why is StarHub ceasing TV1?

TV1 on Analogue platform will be ceased on 31 December 2018 as it is part of the overall effort for all TV Broadcast to go Digital.

Free-to-air radio channels on Analogue platform

1. Why am I unable to get any radio signal from the FM outlet of the StarHub cable point?

Free-to-air radio signals on the Analogue platform will be ceased on 31 December 2018 as it is part of the overall island wide effort to go Digital.

2. How can I continue to get the radio signal from the FM outlet of the StarHub cable point after 31 December 2018?

The free-to-air radio signal is not part of StarHub’s service offering. Hence, we are not the appropriate party to advise on alternatives to receive free-to-air radio signals.

3. I am a StarHub TV subscriber, and using the FM outlet from the StarHub cable point to get the radio signal, will I be affected too after 31 December 2018?

From 31 December 2018, you will not be able to receive the radio channels through the FM outlet via StarHub’s cable point. Free-to-air radio signals on the Analogue platform will be ceased on 31 December 2018 as it is part of the overall effort for all TV Broadcast to go Digital.

4. Are there any replacement and/or compensation for the radio signal discontinuation after 31 December 2018?

The free-to-air radio signal is not part of StarHub’s service offering so there will be no free replacement and/or compensation.

 

Free Preview channel on Analogue platform

1. Why is StarHub ceasing the Free Preview channel?

The Free Preview channel on the Analogue platform will be ceased on 31 December 2018 as it is part of the overall effort for all TV Broadcast to go Digital.

2. Are there any free replacement channel I can watch with similar content?

Unfortunately, there will be no replacement for this channel.

3. I am a StarHub TV subscriber, will I still be able to watch the Free Preview (Ch 101)?

All StarHub TV customers are already on Digital TV and you will not be affected by this cessation of the Analogue platform. You can continue to watch the Free Preview channel (Ch 101).

 

Cessation of Hub Sports Arena

1. Why is StarHub ceasing Hub Sports Arena?

We are discontinuing Hub Sports Arena (Ch 112 / Ch 205) as part of our ongoing efforts to review the content offering. Hub Sports Arena (Ch 112 / Ch 205) will cease transmission on StarHub TV on 28 December 2018.

2. Are there any free replacement channel I can watch with similar content?

3. I am a StarHub TV subscriber, will I still be able to watch Hub Sports Arena (Ch 112 / Ch 205)?

Hub Sports Arena will no longer be available from 28 December 2018, all StarHub TV customers will no longer be able to watch this channel.

4. You are ceasing Hub Sports Arena; will StarHub be reducing the price to my subscription?

Hub Sports Arena has always been a free-view channel. With the cessation to this channel, there will be no changes to your subscription.

5. When is the last programme on Hub Sports Arena (Ch 112 / Ch 205)?

Action Sports World 2018 Episode 46 (1100-1200hrs) will be the last programme shown on Hub Sports Arena.
