Unparalleled coverage of LionsXII to span across StarHub TV, online and mobile platforms

Singapore, 5 January 2012 – StarHub and the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) are proud to announce the appointment of StarHub as the Official Broadcaster and Principal Sponsor of LionsXII. As part of the partnership, StarHub will carry all LionsXII content on its pay TV, online and mobile platforms.

StarHub’s comprehensive coverage includes ‘live’ broadcasts of LionsXII matches in the Malaysia Super League (MSL), the Malaysia FA Cup, and the Malaysia Cup, starting with the MSL home game against defending champions Kelantan on 10 January 2012. Under the deal, the StarHub logo will also be emblazoned across the front of LionsXII team jerseys in all competitions.

All matches will be shown for free on SuperSports Arena (StarHub TV Channels 112 and 201) and StarHub TV on Mobile, which are available to all StarHub TV subscribers and StarHub Mobile post-paid subscribers respectively. LionsXII matches will also be available on Internet TV (accessible on tv.starhub.com).

"As a passionate home-grown supporter of local football, we want to cement our commitment to the cause with this broadcast and sponsorship deal. In the past 18 months alone, we have brought the Youth Olympic Games, the Lion City Cup and the S.League into the living rooms of households all over Singapore. With our LionsXII coverage bringing the fans as close to the action as possible, fans will be able to kick every ball and make every tackle with the team," said Mr Tan Tong Hai, Chief Operating Officer, StarHub.

StarHub is also working together with the People’s Association (PA) to hold community screenings of selected LionsXII matches. This will serve as a platform to bring residents of all ages, races and estates together through their common love for football. For the opening MSL match against Kelantan, ‘live’ screenings will be held simultaneously at PA Lawn opposite Jalan Besar Stadium, Nex shopping mall and Lot One.

“I would like to thank all the companies who came to us with comprehensive proposals. The FAS evaluation committee decided that StarHub’s proposal best met our objectives which include extending the reach of the matches to a wider heartland audience through public screenings, showcasing the matches on various platforms such as television, mobile and online, as well as an innovative promotional strategy. We look forward to partnering with StarHub in using football as a key platform to strengthen social and community bonding in Singapore,” said FAS President Mr Zainudin Nordin.

MediaCorp Channel 5 will be screening one match per month, for a total of seven ‘live’ MSL home matches and up to four Malaysia Cup matches. Screening of the Malaysia Cup matches is subject to LionsXII’s progress as the four matches are the opening match, two semi-final matches and the final.

SuperSports Arena is a complimentary sports channel available to all StarHub TV customers. Non-StarHub TV customers will still be able to follow the action by tuning their television sets to frequency 76.25MHz. For additional instructions, please refer to Appendix 1.
