31 March 2010

Singapore, 31 March 2010 – StarHub announced a suite of upgrades for its cable TV customers today, with the upcoming launches of four new channels and a revamp of the numbers assigned to each of the over 150 channels carried on its platform. The enhanced channel numbering system is part of StarHub’s overall content strategy to pave the way for the introduction of more new content moving forward and is in line with the practices of key pay TV operators worldwide.

Viewers inSingapore can look forward to the launch of two English entertainment channels - truTV and WarnerTV on StarHub TV on 1 April 2010.  Come 28 April, sports action channel KIX and thriller channel Thrill will also join StarHub TV’s family of quality channels.  In addition, Animax will be moved from StarHub TV’s Entertainment Basic Upsize Group to the Entertainment Basic Group from 1 April, giving more value to local anime fans.

“StarHub remains committed to provide our customers with the most comprehensive range of quality content to viewers in Singapore. We value the great support from many leading international and regional content partners, and have been working hard to secure even more new content to excite our viewers. To make it simpler for our customers, we decided to regroup our suite of channels into specific genres for easy reference. We understand that this could temporarily inconvenience our subscribers and may take a period of time to get used to, but we would like to assure them that we are also doing our best to make this a smooth and fuss-free transition, and tuning into their favourite channels would only get easier,” said Mr Tan Tong Hai, StarHub’s COO.

StarHub will make changes to all channel numbers accessed from its cable TV platform to enable easy recall for subscribers from 30 April. The new three-digit numbering system will give viewers greater convenience in locating channels of their favourite content genres as StarHub continues to broaden its variety of contents on its platform by introducing new channels.

The channels will be grouped according to the following genres:
