20 April 2018

Singapore, 20 April 2018 – StarHub today announced that it will cease further rollout of its hybrid fibre coaxial (HFC) network to new residential and commercial buildings.

For customers moving into new buildings that obtain Temporary Occupation Permit status after 30 April 2018, StarHub will deliver its broadband, pay TV and fixed voice services over the Nationwide Broadband Network (NBN) or via its own fibre infrastructure. The telco has been steadily expanding its own fibre infrastructure in the past few years to reach more commercial buildings, providing companies with diversity in internet access.

Mr Chong Siew Loong, StarHub’s Chief Technology Officer, said: “Today, Singapore has the world’s fastest fixed broadband speed on fibre connections, which is important in our country’s quest to be a Smart Nation. A significant number of our customers have already moved to fibre networks, and we will continue to help the rest to get their homes and offices onto fibre, to embrace technologies and data for smarter living and working.”

StarHub will provide customers with details of its plans for the existing HFC infrastructure in due course.
