Closure of 2G network from April 2017

From 1 April 2017, all of Singapore’s mobile operators (including StarHub) will no longer provide 2G mobile services. If you’re on a 2G-only device, you will no longer be able to use voice, SMS and data services.

Why the closure?

Closing the 2G network will free up the wireless spectrum, giving us more bandwidth to provide you with better 3G/4G services and connectivity island-wide. Plus, you’ll get to enjoy a much better mobile experience, from smoother streaming of your favourite videos on the go, to better call clarity.

How do I check if I’m on a 2G-only phone?

Do you see 3G/4G/LTE icon
on top of your screen?

Are you able to select LTE/4G/3G from your
phone Settings>Mobile Network>Network Mode?

Does your phone have a
touch screen?

If you answer “NO” to 2 or more of the questions above, you probably own a 2G-only phone.

Is my 2nd SIM card slot compatible
to 3G/4G network?

The 2nd SIM card slot in your 3G/4G mobile phone may not be compatible to 3G/4G network.
Check compatibility here.
