Singapore, 17 October 2019 – StarHub wants to be a forerunner in 5G to serve the needs of every customer better than anyone else. StarHub is studying Infocomm Media Development Authority's (IMDA) Call for Proposal (CFP) and it will submit a comprehensive proposal for a resilient and secure 5G network design to boost Singapore’s Smart Nation development and support the government, businesses and consumers in this innovation drive.

5G, with its high-speed, low-latency and private networking capabilities, will create massive opportunities for new applications and services that will impact our society and how everyone lives, works and plays. StarHub is working to discover what works and what does not for the unique Singaporean market. It is conducting trials and proof-of-concepts with its 5G ecosystem of technology, business, institutes of higher learning and public agency partners. The objective of the cross-industry engagement is to co-create innovative, highly relevant and sustainable 5G use cases across all six national strategic clusters.

A portion of StarHub’s network is 5G-ready today to facilitate trials in the lead up to eventual commercialisation. The company is broadcasting ‘live’ 5G signals from its headquarters and has identified areas at which to expand its initial 5G coverage. It also operates a 5G cellular-on-wheels vehicle, to showcase 5G benefits island-wide.
