Singapore, 24 November 2019 – Back for the second edition, StarHub Night of Stars 2019 was a night to remember with a star-studded line-up of 18 renowned artistes across Asia. Rounding off the year with a bang, the awards show celebrated the hottest line-up of Asian entertainment on StarHub with the presentation of 18 awards coupled with performances by some of the region’s biggest stars.

Starting on a high note, local songstress Joanna Dong descended from a height and dazzled the crowd with a medley of hit drama theme songs of 2019, demonstrating her musical range and versatility. The returning hosts Dennis Nieh, Lulu Huang and Kate Pang brought the house down with their levelled-up rapport. Audience members were also in for a treat with performances by superstar Ekin Cheng, music sensation Yoga Lin and winners of the night.

The ultimate accolades of the night, the 2019 StarHub Best Male and Female Asian Star Awards, were presented to Kim Jae Uck and Park Min Young respectively. Both Korean stars were the leads in romantic comedy Her Private Life, sharing impeccable on-screen chemistry.

Earlier in the afternoon, at the Green Carpet event held at Digital Light Canvas at The Shoppes, dedicated fans arrived as early as 6am to reserve the best spaces to get a glimpse of their favourite stars. Areas around the Digital Light Canvas were filled to the brim, extending beyond three levels. The awards show was attended by more than 1,700 guests, to the full capacity of the Sands Theatre, Marina Bay Sands.

StarHub customers can catch the premiere of StarHub Night of Stars on Hub E City (StarHub Channel 111/825) on 8 December 2019, 7pm. StarHub Night of Stars 2019 will also be available on the StarHub Go streaming app, under the Go Local reel, for free to all in Singapore, from 9 December 2019; the awards show will also be available on Hub VV Drama (StarHub Channel 855) on 10 January 2020, 10.30pm.

In the acting category, Yang Mi playing the role of a gifted architect in The Great Architect, bagged the 2019 StarHub Best Actress (China) Award. Xu Kai clinched the StarHub Best Actor (China) Award for his role as a cheeky and playful cadet in the highly-rated drama Arsenal Military Academy. His fellow on-screen partner Bai Lu, albeit new in the industry, delivered a stellar performance, disguising as a male cadet in Arsenal Military Academy and earned the 2019 StarHub Most Promising Actress Award.

A cast member of popular reality show I Live Alone, Sung Hoon showcased an uncensored look into his personal life - his huge appetite and quirky habits stole the hearts of fans worldwide and earned him the 2019 StarHub Dazzling Star Award. The 2019 StarHub Most Promising Actor Award was awarded to Ong Seong Wu for his acting debut in At Eighteen, earning critical acclaim for his portrayal of a reclusive high school student.

Fresh off winning the Best Supporting Actor Award at the 54th Golden Bell Awards, James Wen continues his winning streak, bagging the 2019 StarHub Most Outstanding Actor Award for his role in legal crime drama Best Interest. Also starring in Best Interest is Tian Xin, who received the 2019 StarHub Most Outstanding Actress Award.

TVB’s drama Big White Duel swept three acting awards with Ali Lee, Kenneth Ma and Natalie Tong accepting the 2019 StarHub Best TVB Drama Character Award and 2019 StarHub Best TVB Male and Female Artiste Award respectively. To the astounding applause from the audience, veteran artiste Fung Bo Bo presented Kenneth Ma and Natalie Tong with their awards.

All-rounded TVB artiste Fred Cheng, scored another win for Big White Duel taking home the 2019 StarHub Best TVB Drama OST Award; he also took the stage, belting out the winning theme song Choice. 2019 StarHub Rising Star Award winner K-pop idol group AB6IX stunned the crowd with an electrifying performance of their hit songs Breathe and Blind For Love.

Fan-voted Award Categories

This year, StarHub increased the number of fan-voted awards to three, giving power to fans in deciding the ultimate winner. The three awards are the 2019 StarHub Favourite Variety Show Award, 2019 StarHub Favourite Korean Drama Male Character Award and 2019 StarHub Favourite Local Production Award. Voting took place through StarHub’s Facebook page and the winners are Park Jin Young for He Is Psychometric, Running Man and StarHub Night of Stars 2018 respectively. While the winners were not present, they surprised the audience and appeared on the big screen with a sweet thank-you message to fans.

2019 Most Caring Star Award

Widely recognised for her iconic role as Hao Yi, household name Nancy Sit is revered by industry peers and juniors alike and is also well known for her philanthropic efforts. At StarHub Night of Stars 2019, Nancy Sit was honoured for her charitable contributions with the 2019 Most Caring Star Award.
