Singapore, 28 July 2016 – To celebrate our 51st National Day, StarHub has released a special rendition of the National Anthem, “Majulah Singapura” sung by 51 Singaporean mothers. Through this “Majulah Moms” music video, StarHub hopes to inspire all Singaporeans to unite as One Singapore by a common dream to build a brighter future for the ones we love.

This music video is StarHub's latest in a series of National Day campaigns to promote inclusiveness and togetherness in Singapore. This comes after its SG50 viral hit "Home by Homes" starring talents from nine voluntary welfare organisations and "SG4SG" that celebrated small local businesses in 2014.

In the music video, viewers are shown re-enactments of some of the mothers' stories, featuring the mothers themselves. This includes the story of Ms Sherlin Giri who has lost her husband in a car accident but picked herself up in order to support her children; as well as the story of 51-year old sailing mom Ms Sharifah Shahab, who gives her time and energy to supporting the Olympic dream of her national sailor daughter, Yukie Yokoyama.

“We specifically chose to feature Singaporean mothers, because not only do they embody the Majulah spirit, they play a crucial role in passing it on to our future generations. The mothers are from different backgrounds  and are each on a different path, but they are all united by a common dream to build a brighter future for our next generation,” said Howie Lau, Chief Marketing Officer, StarHub.

"My son and I are so fortunate to be born here; but that is only possible because people of different ethnicities came together to work hard and build a bright future; we may live in a very different world today but the truth remains that harmony breeds success", said Ms Siti Munnawarah, a Singaporean mother who is currently pregnant with her second child.

Ms Rowena Bhagchandani, Managing Director at DDB Group Singapore, StarHub’s advertising agency said, "Our anthem tells us over and over again to unite and make progress together, regardless of race, language or religion; we wanted to highlight and celebrate that because it is essentially the recipe for all our progress - yesterday, today and forevermore."

To promote inclusiveness and togetherness in Singapore, StarHub will be making a donation from its corporate philanthropy vehicle StarHub Sparks Fund to Daughters of Tomorrow (DOT), a local charity that provides support to underprivileged mothers to aid them in raising their children. StarHub customers can show their support for disadvantaged mothers by redeeming 51 StarHub Rewards Points for a $5 donation to the charitable cause championed by DOT.

As part of StarHub’s National Day celebrations, StarHub TV customers will enjoy free viewing of over 100 channels from 5 August noon to 11 August noon. In addition, all mobile postpaid customers will receive 1GB of local data free-of-charge for a month.
