Disney XD to premiere in homes with marvel’s latest television series

To be part of StarHub’s TV Anywhere and Disney On Demand

Singapore, 7 March 2013 - The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia (TWDC SEA) together with StarHub, Singapore’s leading pay TV operator will launch Disney XD, a brand new kids channel in Singapore on 16 March (Saturday) at 10am. Targeted at kids aged 6-14 years, Disney XD will be a boy-focused, girl-inclusive channel offering for the Singapore market. The channel will be available on the StarHub TV Kids Basic Group (Channel 310), the first High-Definition Kids channel offering on StarHub TV (Disney XD HD - Channel 360) and on StarHub’s Internet TV service TV Anywhere. The channel will be aired in English and Mandarin.

Differentiating Disney XD is its creative programming mix comprising original Disney XD series, action/ adventure movies, animation and anime and sports entertainment. Disney XD will be the TV home of new Marvel series featuring superheroes such as Spider-Man, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor and introduce dynamic stories full of action, adventure and heroism to a whole new generation. The channel will also feature original Disney XD series including the martial arts comedy Kickin' It, turbo-charged animated series Motorcity and the fun animated series Kick Buttowski - Suburban Daredevil and the hugely popular 2D animated comedy Phineas & Ferb.

“Disney XD reflects the lives of the young Singaporeans through its creative storytelling – the spirit of self-discovery and accomplishment. Whether it's scoring the goal, nailing the trick, mastering the riff or getting to the next level, the channel’s storytelling entertains and inspires kids to keep trying no matter what the outcome,” said Natasha Malhotra, General Manager, Branded Media Content, The Walt Disney Company, Southeast Asia.  “We continue to work with StarHub in reaching out to our consumers through newer and immersive digital applications.”

“The launch of Disney XD is an extension of the longstanding relationship between StarHub and Disney. We first introduced Disney to Singapore viewers when we added Disney Channel to our pay TV line-up in 2000. Today, we are excited to be the first to bring Disney XD to Singapore. Disney XD’s unstoppable sense of adventure is guaranteed to provide endless hours of fun for kids and the young at heart. In line with StarHub’s constant efforts to add flexibility to the enjoyment of content, our customers can also take Disney XD with them wherever they go via their laptops or tablets with our multi-screen platform, TV Anywhere,” said Ms Lee Soo Hui, Vice President of Media Business Unit, StarHub.

Disney XD and Disney Junior will be available on TV Anywhere via starhubtvanywhere.com from 16 March. TV Anywhere is a multi-screen solution which allows StarHub TV customers to watch their favourite TV channels on their subscription plan on their personal devices such as PC, Mac, iPad or tablet.

Additionally, Disney On Demand – a catch-up channel offering all the best programmes from Disney Channel, Disney Junior and Disney XD as well as regular special content and stunts, will also be launched on StarHub TV Channel 313.

Disney XD (Channel 310) is the third Disney 24-hour channel on StarHub TV and will join Disney Channel (Channel 312) and Disney Junior (Channel 311) on the Kids Basic Group.
