Opening match will be offered free of charge on Preview Channel and VHF 76.25MHz

'Live' screening event of Group A matches at Clarke Quay on 8 June 2012, 11pm

Dietmar Hamann, Andy Cole, Gary McAllister among list of guest experts on 'live' studio show

Singapore, 5 June 2012 – StarHub, the official broadcaster of UEFA EURO 2012™, is kicking off its ‘live’ tournament coverage by offering the opening ceremony and match (Poland vs Greece) free on the Preview Channel (StarHub TV Channel 101) and to non-subscribers on VHF frequency 76.25MHz. The ‘live’ telecast will start on 8 June, Friday, 11:15pm, followed by the match at 12 midnight.

StarHub will also hold a ‘live’ screening event for football fans to come together and soak up the party atmosphere on the opening day of the tournament. The event will be held at Clarke Quay Central Fountain Square on 8 June, Friday at 11pm and will screen two Group A matches; Poland vs Greece and Russia vs Czech Republic.

StarHub’s broadcast of UEFA EURO 2012™ will be led by Setanta Sports presenter Paul Dempsey. Having covered major sporting events such as the 2010 FIFA World Cup, 2007 IRB Rugby World Cup and the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, Dempsey will provide viewers with match previews, expert analysis, round-ups and a highlights programme called Euro Zone. Dempsey’s broadcast experience includes stints at Sky Sports and Eurosport. Dempsey will be joined by a host of ex-International players selected from Dietmar Hamann, Gary McAllister, Andy Cole, David O’Leary and Dennis Wise. Match commentary will be provided by Martin Fisher, Connor Morris, Brian Little and Gary Breen.

With UEFA EURO 2012™ coverage already available on StarHub’s TV, Mobile and Online platforms, StarHub will be partnering radio station Power 98FM to allow fans to catch up with the latest UEFA EURO 2012™ scores and highlights on Power 98FM’s morning and evening drive-time belts as well as “The Sporting Life” on Saturdays.

Non-StarHub TV subscribers need to have existing cable points to access the free viewing. Please see Appendix 1 for tuning instructions to VHF frequency 76.25MHz.

Appendix 1

For non-StarHub TV subscribers, the generic tuning-in procedures for VHF frequency 76.25MHz are:

  • Select an unused channel on your TV set.
  • Identify the MENU, PRESET or INSTALL button of your TV. If your TV doesn’t have any of these buttons, please refer to your TV manual.
  • Press the function. A menu page of control functions will appear on screen.
  • Scroll to MANUAL TUNE.
  • Manually tune to frequency VHF 76.25MHz.
  • Select STORE to store the tuned frequency.
  • Press MENU or PRESET button to exit tuning.
