StarHub Adds Shine To Deepavali Celebrations With Free Preview of Hindi And Tamil Programmes

Singapore, 5 October 2009 – StarHub today announced that in celebration of Deepavali - the Festival of Lights, it will offer a free preview of compelling programmes from a selection of Hindi and Tamil channels to all cable TV customers. Customers simply need to tune in to Preview Channel (Channel 01) from 9 to 18 October 2009 to view programmes that are simultaneously aired on Vannathirai (Channel 30), STAR PLUS (Channel 41), VIJAY (Channel 28) and STAR GOLD (Channel 42).

Viewers will be able to savour a palette of exciting Tamil and Hindi programmes from the following four channels during the preview:

Vannathirai - a 24-hour Tamil movie channel that offers classic movies, the latest blockbusters, and programmes produced specially for the Singapore market. Viewers can tune in to ‘Hello V’ and call in to dedicate songs to their friends and loved ones. They can also laugh along with ‘Nayyandi Club’ - a comedy-based skit featuring local artistes, and ‘Start Camera Action’ - a reality based programme whereby a local host goes around the streets of Singapore in search of people with special talents.

STAR PLUS - India's leading Hindi general entertainment channel which regularly features the top 40 programmes on cable in India every week. The channel’s line-up includes dramas, comedies, reality shows, game shows, historical and mythological epics as well as Bollywood award shows and blockbuster movies. Viewers will be able to watch popular series like ‘Bidaai’, ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ and the reality show, ‘The Perfect Bride’.

VIJAY - one of the most popular Tamil entertainment channels in India, with an innovative line-up that incorporates a blend of Tamil Nadu’s distinctive culture. The channel offers a range of popular genres including talent contests, music and variety shows, sitcoms, thrillers, reality shows and dramas. Viewers can tuck into reality shows such as ‘Super Singer Junior 2’ and ’Boys vs Girls – Season 2’.

STAR GOLD - a channel with one of the largest Indian film libraries in the world and features the best and biggest Bollywood blockbusters starring legendary Bollywood stars. Viewers will be treated to top Hindi movies like ‘Golmaal Returns’, ‘De Taali’ and ‘Super Star’.

StarHub has more treats in store for customers who wish to continue enjoying Vannathirai, STAR PLUS, VIJAY and STAR GOLD after the free preview period. From 9 to 31 October, StarHub will offer a special 50 percent discount off the monthly subscription rate of these channels for the first three months.
