Singapore, 15 July 2009 - StarHub today announced that from tomorrow, 16 July 2009, consumers in Singapore will be able to enjoy the island's fastest mobile broadband connection nationwide as it will start to offer the first commercial HSPA+ service on its recently upgraded HSPA+ network and devices provided by Huawei.

Branded as MaxMobile Elite, StarHub's HSPA+ service offers download speeds up to 21Mbps nationwide, providing true mobility and unparalleled performance to customers in Internet access on the go.

StarHub unveiled the unprecedented speed of MaxMobile Elite and HSPA+ enabled devices to hundreds of internal trial participants and pilot users in  May and  June 2009. Tomorrow's launch will allow anyone, whether individual or corporate user, to take up the service for fun or work.

"Following the successful customer trial,  StarHub is proud to be at the forefront of mobile broadband in Singapore and launch MaxMobile Elite - the fastest mobile broadband service powered by HSPA+," said Mr Chan Kin Hung, StarHub's Head of Products and Solutions. "With MaxMobile Elite, we are pleased to offer consumers in Singapore an enhanced mobile online experience to meet people's ever increasing demand for high-speed and better quality access to the Internet on-the-go, enabling them to enjoy a whole host of information, communications, and entertainment services at their fingertips."

From tomorrow, customers can subscribe to MaxMobile Elite by visiting any StarHub Shops and Exclusive Partners' outlet. The HSPA+ service is priced at $118 per month. StarHub now offers a two-year subscription plan at 30% discount on the monthly fee, so customers pay $82.60. Those on a MaxOnline post-paid plan (except MaxOnline FlexiSurf) enjoy 50% discount on MaxMobile Elite and pay a monthly fee of $59. Regardless of the subscription plan, customers will receive Huawei's HSPA+ compatible USB modem for free.

Getting connected to the MaxMobile Elite service for the first time is as simple as plugging in the HSPA+ mobile broadband modem into a USB port on any laptop or desktop computer, which then self-installs its own connectivity software and automatically connects to the Internet.

StarHub offers the most comprehensive range of mobile broadband plans in the market that provides customer-focused services to meet the surfing needs of different user segments. Besides MaxMobile Elite that offers download speeds up to 21Mbps, MaxMobile Ultimate and MaxMobile SurfLite deliver mobile broadband speeds up to 7.2Mbps and 2Mbps at a monthly subscription of $50.93 and $19.36 (prices with two-year subscription plan) respectively.

Customers who demand short-term, instant mobile broadband access can get on StarHub's MaxMobile Prepaid service for up to 7.2Mbps or 2Mbps in download speeds. They can choose from different time-based plans, from as low as $2 for an hour of Internet access.
