Usher in the year of the Ox with free preview of the world of Chinese entertainment and more on StarHub TV
Singapore, 13 January 2009 – Celebrate this Lunar New Year with free TV programmes and your favourite artistes from Hong Kong and Taiwan! From 16 January, 6am to 31 January 2009, viewers can enjoy an extensive array of quality Chinese programmes ranging from highly-rated dramas, blockbusters, news and variety programmes on StarHub TV’s Preview Channel (Channel 01) for free!
In addition, drama fans can celebrate an early Lunar New Year with popular TVB artistes Nancy Sit, Myolie Wu, Kenneth Ma, Fala Chen and the cast from ‘A Place Called Home’ namely Sung I-Ming and Cheng Chung-Yin! They will be meeting their fans at Causeway Point on 17 and 18 January.
The 12 channels participating in StarHub’s free preview are CCTV-4, Celestial Movies, CHANNEL [V] TAIWAN, CTI TV, E City, JET TV, STAR CHINESE CHANNEL, TVB Classic, TVB8, TVBS-Asia, TVBS-News and VV Drama. The Preview Channel will run 24 hours daily for the period of the free preview, with a ‘live’ feed extracted from the 12 Chinese channels carried by StarHub.
“Being the largest pay TV operator in Singapore, StarHub TV offers a wide variety of Chinese content via 24 Mandarin channels and one Cantonese channel. The Million Star – Hosted by Harlem Yu. An entertaining music game show which requires the contestants to remember the lyrics to win money prizes.
Existing subscribers of StarHub TV can enjoy the Preview Channel on Channel 01, while non-subscribers can tune their TV sets manually to UHF 527.25 Mhz. The manual tuning-in procedures will vary according to different TV set models, and viewers are advised to refer to their TV operating manuals for specific tuning instructions.
The generic tuning-in procedures are:
- Select an unused channel on the TV unit.
- Press the TUNNING button on the TV remote control or at the front panel of the TV unit, commonly labeled as [PRESET], [INSTALL], [SET], [P/C] or [MENU>TUNE>MANUAL]. If the TV unit does not have any of these buttons, please refer to the TV manual.
- Start tuning by pressing or selecting the VOLUME +/- button or the CHANNEL UP/DOWN button on the TV remote control until the Free Preview channel appears on the screen.
- Next, press the STORE or MEM button on the TV remote control to store the tuning.
- Press the MENU or PRESET button to end or exit the tuning procedure.
