StarHub to Deliver Scaleable and Secure International Ethernet Private Line Service into Malaysia
Singapore, 16 February 2009 – StarHub today extended its International Ethernet Private Line (IEPL) service into Malaysia, following a partnership agreement with Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM). This means that businesses in Singapore can deploy high-quality data, IP and voice/VoIP solutions into Malaysia using StarHub’s scaleable and secured international Ethernet connection.
Launched in March 2008, StarHub's IEPL service – which scales from 2Mbps to 1Gbps – has been available to Singapore businesses that require point-to-point International Ethernet circuits to Hong Kong, and thereafter to South Korea, Mainland China, Taiwan, the Philippines, Japan, USA and the UK. Now, with this partnership with TM, businesses will have the same quality service in Malaysia, as they deploy their data and voice solutions across the country.
"Telekom Malaysia has vast experience in delivering high-quality international connectivity to businesses. We believe that Singapore companies with operations in Malaysia will be able to take advantage of this new enhancement. The service is flexible, secured and easy-to-deploy, making it the ideal enterprise connectivity solution for businesses gradually expanding across the region," said Mr Adit Harinasuta, StarHub’s Head of Products and Solutions.
Added Mr. Mohamad Rozaimy Abd Rahman, Chief Operating Officer of TM Global, the global sales arm of TM, "the standard Ethernet interface used in the IEPL service is an excellent consistent technology and businesses will be able to gain cost savings for their CPEs (Customer Premise Equipment). TM’s technical experience will help companies fully enjoy a resilient and well-diversified network when they adopt this service in their operations. This is especially beneficial for enterprise segments with regional expansion plans that require high traffic data volume applications."
The IEPL service utilises Ethernet over Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (EoSDH) technology to securely transfer data from Singapore to overseas POPs and then deliver to the end-customer through the respective local carrier’s Ethernet over SDH network. The solution is more cost effective as it offers far greater scalability than traditional International Private Leased Circuit (IPLC) services, with the same service-level guarantees (SLG).
