Singapore, 21 May 2008 – A new channel will come your way later this month as StarHub will be adding The Biography Channel, BIO (StarHub Channel 95) to its pay TV line up. To give viewers a chance to experience the quality content on this new channel, StarHub will offer a six-day free preview of BIO from 27 May, 7pm to 1 June 2008. During this period, StarHub Digital Cable customers using the HubStation, digital or High Definition set-top box can enjoy the programmes on BIO simply by tuning in to StarHub Digital Cable Channel 95.

Together with Philippines, StarHub will be the first pay TV operator in Southeast Asia to launch BIO on 27 May. The channel is presently enjoying much popularity amongst viewers in over 23 territories in 67 million TV households.

With over 1,400 hours of programming in its content library, BIO gives viewers a chance to peek into the lives of public figures through an interesting and entertaining platform. BIO goes up close to reveal the personal, gritty and provocative sides of the people from the past and present, from Hollywood stars to historical figures, world leaders, artists, monarchs, musicians, athletes and infamous villains. Viewers will unearth secrets and little known information about famous icons such as Albert Einstein, Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez and Bill Gates!

"StarHub is pleased to collaborate with AETN to add a new channel to our pay TV line-up. Singaporeans are becoming better informed and well travelled today, thus we hope to bring in content which enables them to learn more about famous icons across the globe. The launch of The Biography Channel provides another quality choice of content for our StarHub Digital Cable customers and I am sure they would enjoy the content on this channel which is both informative and entertaining," said Patrick Lim, StarHub’s Head of Cable TV Services.

Louis Boswell, General Manager AETN All Asia Networks, remarked, "The Biography Channel is the third network we have launched in less than a year, and confirms our commitment to becoming the leader in factual entertainment programming in Asia. It is a channel dedicated to real people and their real stories, no matter whether they are famous or simply have an extraordinary story to tell. There is an infinite supply of real life stories to tell here in Asia, and we look forward to telling them. We are delighted that the channel will be seen from launch here in Singapore on StarHub and in the Philippines. After the early success of The History Channel and Crime and Investigation Network, I am sure that BIO will be equally well received."

Other than looking into the biographies of famous celebrities and politicians, BIO also offers real-life series and specials, taking viewers into the lives of ordinary people with unique or extraordinary stories and situations.  In one such series, throw open the parlor door and find out more about a family-run mortuary with Family Plots. This channel also goes behind the scenes with interior design experts who offer viewers tips on decorating, real-estate, cooking and gardening in series like Flip this House, Find & Design and House Beautiful that present unique home makeovers. To cater to the needs of Singapore viewers, the channel will also offer programmes profiling some of Asia’s prominent celebrities and leaders such as Vera Wang, Michelle Kwan, Chiang Kai Shek and Kim Jong Il.

More details on BIO will be announced at a later date.
