Singapore, 20 February 2008 – StarHub, Singapore’s second largest info-communications provider, continues to garner widespread accolades for its financial management and investor relations efforts as it picked up two awards at the Singapore Corporate Awards today.
Mr Kwek Buck Chye has been named Best Chief Financial Officer of the Year for his supporting and advocacy role in promoting good governance, disclosure and transparency. He and his team have been managing StarHub’s growth in business, profits, cash-flow and capital management to yield higher shareholder returns. In fact, StarHub strong cash-flow has allowed the company to return more than S$1.7 billion to shareholders since its public listing in 2004. This was effected through an aggressive dividend policy and two capital management exercises.
The second award secured by StarHub was for Best IR award (Silver) for large caps companies, with its proactive efforts to establish open and rapid channels of communications with investors from all over the world.
Mr Kwek said, "We are deeply honoured to receive these awards. All these efforts to enhance shareholder value were made possible because of our committed financial staff, our dedicated operational teams, and the strong leadership and trust in our management team and our board of directors. It is a privilege to be recognised and we will continue to work hard to justify the accolades."
2007 was a banner year for StarHub, with its revenues crossing the S$2 billion mark, more than double the revenue that was earned in 2004. In addition, StarHub’s enterprise value has blossomed 300%, from just below S$2 billion in 2004 to an excess of S$5.9 billion in 2007.
