Singapore , 13 August 2008 – StarHub and Singapore Exchange Limited (SGX) announced today that they are partnering to provide a new information service – Financial Information – to 511,000 cable TV households in Singapore via their TV screens.

The new service, to be launched on 14 August 2008 on StarHub Digital Cable’s Interactive TV, will enable viewers to access live stock prices and other financial information on SGX – Mainboard, Catalist, Sectors (by Industry), Products and Top 20 summary by multi-industry.  Available on Interactive TV (Channel 800), it will be accessible by all StarHub viewers using the digital set-top box, High Definition (HD) set-top box or HubStation, at no additional cost.

Other features of this new service include a user-friendly layout that enables easy navigation, and a personal folder – ‘My Stocks’ – that allows viewers to compile a portfolio of their favourite stocks and track the portfolio value based on the stocks’ latest prices.

Viewers can also look forward to accessing other financial information such as Market Depth and other market analyses that will be made available on Interactive TV progressively.  StarHub and SGX plan to include the real-time values of the Straits Times Index and FTSE ST Index Series by end of this year, once the technical upgrades to receive the live feed have been completed.  Also in the pipeline, viewers can enjoy the convenience to carry out their stock transactions in the comfort of their home via Interactive TV in future.

Mr Patrick Lim, StarHub’s Head of Cable TV Services said, “Today's viewers do not just turn to the TV set to be entertained, they also want to be informed.  With Interactive TV, we are able to offer our cable TV viewers a whole new world of information and entertainment options, all from the comfort of their home.  We know how important it is for those with share investments to have a convenient, quick and reliable means of monitoring the market.  Hence, we are delighted to partner SGX to provide the latest and updated financial information ranging from live stock prices to market analyses for our cable TV viewers."
