Singapore, 1 August 2008 - When online gamers congregate at Marina Square to enjoy the fun and excitement of the first-ever AsiaSoft GameFest by AsiaSoft Online, they will experience the reliability and quality of StarHub's Business Broadband Services. StarHub is proud to be appointed by AsiaSoft as the Official Infocomms Provider for the three-day event starting today.

Thousands of gamers are expected to turn up for AsiaSoft GameFest, as AsiaSoft Online, the leading publisher of massively-multiplayer online games (MMOG), celebrates in an epic manner for all of its current hits and new releases. Among the games on display are the perennially popular MapleSEA, GetAmped, Cabal Online and Audition, with the newly launched, Richman Online.

To support the grueling needs of the game competitions, StarHub will provide Internet and broadband services capable of supporting thousands of online gamers simultaneously. In addition, StarHub will be sponsoring the champion team prize of $1,200 for the MapleSEA Monster Carnival Showdown.

"The AsiaSoft GameFest is the largest online gaming celebration in Singapore for casual and hardcore gamers this year. We are excited to hold, in conjunction with AsiaSoft GameFest, an international event - GetAmped World Festival. This event will not only boost the gaming industry in Singapore but strengthen ties within the gaming community across Asia," said Mr Ng Kok Khwang, Marketing Director of AsiaSoft. "We are delighted that StarHub is able to provide their considerable broadband expertise and show their ardent support for AsiaSoft's efforts to expand the market here."

EXPERIENCING VELOCITY, STARHUB'S CONTENT-COLLABORATION PROGRAMME

Besides providing a high-quality broadband connection, the event will demonstrate the success of StarHub's content-collaboration programme called Velocity to gamers in Singapore and around the region. AsiaSoft Online is part of the Velocity programme.

Velocity provides content and application service providers with end-to-end high quality connections through StarHub's local and international broadband links, as well as attractive co-location and facilities management rates from market-leading partners. This means that gamers in Singapore accessing Velocity-enabled sites will be able to get a better online experience as the content is hosted locally. Access to the online content from gamers in the region will also be better.

The key attraction to StarHub's programme is that it is vendor-agnostic, meaning that content providers have the flexibility to decide how best to manage their own content and facilities.

"The online content and gaming market has been continually growing exponentially year-by-year," said Ms Ong Bee Lian, Head of Data and Business, StarHub. "The Velocity programme is designed to cater to the needs of content and online gaming service providers that are looking to access the market here easily and with quality connections through international and regional networks. We are not only excited to be able to support AsiaSoft for their AsiaSoft GameFest, we are proud to serve AsiaSoft by enhancing their operations as they continue to grow across the region."
