StarHub to donate 10 percent of its share of advertising revenue from Sensasi for the next three years to Pertapis Children's Home

Singapore , 25 July 2007 – Malay TV audiences in Singapore have good reason to rejoice. StarHub, Singapore’s largest pay-TV operator, announced today that it will offer the country’s first and only dedicated Malay entertainment channel - Sensasi (‘sensation’ in Malay), on StarHub Digital Cable Channel 40 from 6 August 2007, 7pm.

Ms Tham Loke Kheng, StarHub’s Senior Vice President for Content and Marketing, said, “Clearly, there is a strong desire among the Malay community in Singapore for more Malay entertainment choices, and we are more than happy to oblige. Audiences can expect compelling, vibrant content, including a plethora of first-run and highly-rated programmes from around the region. We anticipate that the channel will not only win fans from among our local Malay viewers, but also strike a chord with the significant number of Malaysians and Indonesians residing in Singapore .

Sensasi will be made available on the Digital-only Add-on Tier, and cable TV customers with a digital set-top box, HubStation or High Definition set-top box will be able to enjoy Sensasi for a monthly subscription of $6 ($6.42 with GST).

To provide TV audiences with an opportunity to sample the quality programmes on Sensasi, StarHub will offer a free preview of the channel to all cable TV customers via its Preview Channel, Channel 01, from 7pm on 6 August to 1am on 1 September. Viewers simply need to tune in to Channel 01 to receive the channel.

In celebration of this milestone and in the spirit of giving, StarHub has pledged to donate 10 percent of its share of the advertising revenue from Sensasi to Pertapis Children's Home yearly, till end 2009.

Ms Tham added, “We would like everyone to share our joy in the launch of Sensasi. Our pledge to contribute to Pertapis Children's Home is in line with StarHub’s corporate philanthropy belief to spread joy and happiness to the less privileged. We thank the local Malay community for their strong support of the channel even before its launch, and sincerely hope that the channel grows with them to become a fixture in their households.”

StarHub had announced earlier this month that its new Malay channel will be fully packaged by its channel development partner - Content Network Asia, which will also be closely involved in the strategic development of the channel.

Sensasi will carry at least six hours of first-run shows and 18 hours of programming daily, with key programmes being aired during the primetime hours of 8pm to 11pm. During this time-belt, TV viewers can look forward to thematic block programming dedicated to specific genres. Sensasi viewers can enjoy family-oriented programmes on Mondays, variety shows on Tuesdays, period dramas and action flicks on Wednesdays, horror-themed shows on Thursdays, romantic dramas and comedies on Fridays, and blockbuster movies over the weekend.

With a buffet of award-winning and highly rated programmes from around the region, Sensasi is certainly poised to keep viewers glued to their seats. The bulk of the programmes on the channel are acquired from television networks and content distributors from Indonesia and Malaysia . StarHub, through Content Network Asia, is also exploring partnerships with local production firms to produce some Malay content locally.

From 6 August, viewers can refer to the StarHub’s Online Programme Guide for the schedule of the programmes on Sensasi, and customers can call 1630 or 1633 to add the channel to their cable TV packages from 26 July.
