Singapore, 11 October 2005 - Local gaming fans are in for a treat! Showing signs that cybergaming has finally hit the big time, StarHub will broadcast the entire four-day Cyberathlete Professional League (CPL) World Tour tournament on its Preview Channel, Channel 01. This is the first time a cybergaming tournament will be broadcast "live" in Singapore! Virtually all households in Singapore will be able to access the Preview Channel, regardless of whether they are customers of StarHub's cable TV services.

Launched in June 1997, the CPL is the first organisation in the world to advance computer game competitions to the level of a professional sport. It is the global leader in professional computer game competitions, and has hosted 45 international main events over the past eight years, with a total attendance of 50,000 gamers.

Singapore is the only Asian stopover for the CPL World Tour. The games will be played at the Padang, in a 2,000 sq m air-conditioned tentage. Two games will be played competitively in the tournament - "Painkiller 1.64" and the team-based "Counter-strike 1.6". The purse prize for the Singapore leg of the tournament is US$50,000 for "Painkiller" and US$20,000 for "Counter-strike".

Said Mr Mike Reynolds, StarHub's Head of Commercial, "The telecast of the CPL World Tour on our Preview Channel will not only broaden the appeal of cybergaming amongst families and youths. This milestone event, and our efforts to promote cybergaming at a national level, will demonstrate that we have both the infrastructure and capability to deliver a world-class cybergaming environment, and in the long run, put Singapore on the international cybergaming map."

StarHub is the Official Network Provider and Broadband Partner for the CPL World Tour Singapore. As the sole telecommunications and broadband sponsor, StarHub will provide the Internet connectivity, LAN Networks, cable TV broadcast and voice lines for the event. StarHub will telecast the Opening Ceremony of the CPL World Tour "live" on Thursday, 13 October 2005, from 6pm to 8pm, and air the competition "live" from 14 to 16 October daily, from 10am to 7pm.

The CPL World Tour is the CPL's largest, first-ever, year-long competitive tour. It aims to garner mainstream-population interest to the sport of professional gaming. A World Tour Stop takes place each month of 2005 beginning in February, and will conclude with a Championship Finals Event. The combined prize purse for this Tour is US$1,000,000.

Viewers will have the rare opportunity of catching the best gamers around the world pit their skills with one another.

The webcast for the event will be available at www.tsncentral.net and is provided by Team Sportscast Network (TSN), an online broadcast and media organisation that since its inception in 1999, has pioneered the use of online media to deliver programming specifically targeted at the multiplayer gaming community. While maintaining its ultimate goal of assisting the advancement of competitive multiplayer gaming, TSN has also expanded its horizons to appeal more to the mainstream gaming community.

Existing subscribers of StarHub Digital Cable can enjoy the "live" broadcast of the tournament on StarHub's Preview Channel, Channel 01, while non-subscribers can tune their TV sets manually to UHF 527.25 Mhz.
