BBC Prime is Coming to StarHub Digital Cable
Singapore, 16 June 2005 - The BBC’s international entertainment channel - BBC Prime, will be made available to viewers in Singapore through StarHub Digital Cable by the third quarter of this year, it was announced today at the official celebration of the Queen's Birthday Party at Eden Hall, the official residence of the British High Commissioner. BBC Prime offers quality entertainment from the BBC, with a wide range of programmes that cut across all genres.
StarHub’s Digital Cable subscribers can look forward to lively comedy classics such as Fawlty Towers and the Emmy Award winning Red Dwarf, spine-tingling detective series such as Dalziel and Pascoe, leisure and lifestyle programmes such as What Not To Wear, chart-topping music from Top Of The Pops, exciting dramas, star-studded talk shows, game shows such as the original The Weakest Link with Anne Robinson, and outstanding documentaries.
The Asian version of BBC Prime was created in December last year. Wayne Dunsford, BBC Worldwide’s Director of Channels, said: “We have been working very closely with StarHub to bring BBC Prime to households in Singapore, and have been looking forward to launching the channel in Singapore ever since the channel was made available in Asia last year. The positive feedback that we have received for BBC Prime indicates that there is a healthy appetite for quality British entertainment in Singapore.”
