New VV Drama (+3) channel airs VV Drama content three hours later

Singapore, 25 January 2005 - Fans of Chinese-language dramas no longer have to miss their favourite programmes as with effect from 1 February 2005, StarHub will reward VV Drama (StarHub CableTV Channel 55) viewers who are also Digital Cable customers in a big way - a brand new channel set up just to help them catch every episode of the engaging dramas on the channel. Named “VV Drama (+3)”, this new channel will share the same content as the popular VV Drama, the only difference being programmes will be aired three hours after the latter.

“StarHub is always looking out for ways to benefit our existing customers.  We know that many of our customers lead a busy lifestyle and sometimes have no choice but to miss out on some episodes of their favourite programmes. Being a fan of dramas myself, I could certainly identify with the frustration of having to miss out on an exciting plot development of a serial that I am following. Hence, we decided to introduce VV Drama (+3), which is a twin of VV Drama that is delivered three hours later,” said Ms Sandie Lee, StarHub’s Senior Vice President, Cable TV Services.

This news came hot on the heels of StarHub’s announcement yesterday that it will air blocks of programming from 12 of its Chinese-language channels on the StarHub CableTV Preview Channel (Channel 01), from 1 February to 21 February 2005.  This special viewing is available free-of-charge to all local households with a cable point in their homes, regardless of whether they are subscribers or non-subscribers of StarHub CableTV.

Ms Lee explained, “StarHub presently offers 16 Chinese-language channels and Singapore’s one-and-only Cantonese channel. We are proud of our Chinese-language content and we wish to provide more flexibility to the viewing pleasure of existing customers, while at the same time give non-subscribers who have yet to take up the channels a sneak preview of what we have to offer.”

VV Drama (+3) will be available on StarHub’s digital tier, on StarHub CableTV Channel 255. This channel will be launched at 6am on 1 February 2005, and presented to StarHub Digital customers who also subscribe to VV Drama. VV Drama is the only channel in Singapore that is dedicated solely to dramas, and viewers are the first in Singapore to catch the TV telecasts of new dramas from Hong Kong, Taiwan, China and Korea.

Those interested to subscribe to VV Drama can do so at a low monthly entry fee of $28 ($29.40 with GST).  This fee not only entitles customers to the 24-hour drama channel but also a choice of channels from three out of six StarHub CableTV Basic Groups comprising News, Education, Entertainment, Chinese Entertainment, Chinese Infotainment and Kids.
