Appointment Effective 1 February 2005

Singapore, 7 January 2005 – StarHub, Singapore’s integrated info-communications provider, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Alex Siow as StarHub’s Head of Business Markets. This appointment is effective from 1 February 2005. Mr Siow replaces Dr Kaizad Heerjee who will be moving to ST Telemedia to join the ST Telemedia-TM International (TMI) implementation team in their overseas venture at IDEA Cellular in India.

As Head of Business Markets, Mr Siow will be in charge of leading the Business Solutions and Services Units in providing integrated data and value-added services for the local and global enterprise customers in Singapore.

 

Mr Siow will also be responsible for planning and directing StarHub’s marketing strategies for the commercial and public sectors. In addition, Mr Siow is entrusted with leading the development and marketing of StarHub’s Business Solutions and Services for the enterprise market. Accordingly, he manages and leads the direct sales and marketing departments, business partners and the Business Solutions and Services teams.

Mr Siow is a well-known personality in the industry, having been nominated by Computerworld Singapore as one of the top 10 most powerful IT personalities in Singapore in 1995, and IT Person of the Year 2002 by the Singapore Computer Society. He was conferred the Public Administration Medal Bronze award in 1993 and the Silver award in 2000. He holds other external positions including:

  • Chairman, National Infocomm Competency Centre;
  • Chairman, e-Learning Chapter of the SITF;
  • Assistant Secretary General, Asia ICT Confederation; and
  • President, Singapore Chapter of Project Management Institute.

 

Mr Siow continues to be an adjunct Professor at NUS’ School of Computing and he serves on the boards of the Institute of Systems Science, Commercial & Industrial Security Corporation (CISCO), PT Cisco Mas Sekurititama (Indonesia) and the Information Communication Institute of Singapore, NTU. He also sits on the National Internet Advisory Committee and the National Grid Steering Committee. In the community, he is the Acting Chairman of the Aljunied-Kembangan Citizen’s Consultative Committee and Chairman of the Aljunied-Kembangan Bursary and Welfare Committee. Currently, he is a Lieutenant Colonel in the SAF Reserve.
