StarHub Launches Three New Mobile Price Plans

PowerValue Plans Give Frequent Local Call Users More Airtime For Outgoing Calls And More SMS With All-Day Free Incoming Calls and Per Second Billing

Singapore, 15 October 2004 - StarHub, Singapore’s innovative info-communications provider, today announced the launch of three new All-Day Free Incoming Call mobile price plans. 

From tomorrow, these postpaid mobile plans, namely PowerValue 80 , PowerValue 100 and PowerValue 700, will be available for subscription at all StarHub Shops and Preferred Partners’ outlets.

We are the first mobile operator to launch Free Incoming Calls, which has since proven to be popular with mobile users in Singapore,” said Mr Chan Kin Hung, Head of Mobile Services, StarHub. “With our latest PowerValue plans, StarHub today has the widest range of Free Incoming Call plans to meet different mobile lifestyle requirements. The PowerValue plans are especially targeted at local call users.”

“All PowerValue plans come with StarHub's unique Per Second Billing feature, thereby enabling our customers to make full use of their outgoing talk-time as every second counts. They pay only for what they use, and not a second more,” added Mr Chan. “Even for free outgoing talk-time entitlements, customers get to use the full amount of airtime down to the second, whereas other operators bill the first full minute and then in subsequent blocks of six seconds. As a result, a large portion of the free bundled seconds would go unutilised. For example, with Per Second Billing, the StarHub Mobile customer who has 100 free bundled minutes can make 260 calls, based on an average call duration of 23 seconds. In comparison, customers of other mobile operators can only make 100 calls with the same amount of free bundled minutes. In light of this, StarHub’s mobile plans certainly offer the fairest and best value in town!”

Priced affordably at $19 ($19.95 with GST) which will appeal to the light mobile users, PowerValue 80 offers 80 minutes (or 4,800 seconds) of free outgoing talk-time. Those with higher SMS usage and who make outgoing calls more frequently can choose either of the other two PowerValue plans.

At $24 ($25.20 with GST), PowerValue 100 offers 100 minutes (or 6,000 seconds) of free outgoing talk-time, while PowerValue 700 which comes with 700 minutes (or 42,000 seconds) of free outgoing talk-time, is available at $77.50 ($81.38 with GST). Both plans come with 500 free SMS which can be converted to free MMS. Customers who choose Giro or credit card payment get additional 100 free SMS monthly.
