StarHub reaps highest number of awards amongst local broadcasters

StarHub’s self-packaged channel E City Garners Six Awards

Singapore, 29 June 2004 – StarHub, Singapore’s innovative info-communications company, has been given another firm nod for its creativity.  At the recent Promax&BDA Awards 2004, StarHub clinched a staggering total of nine awards – seven Golds and two Silvers. This is the highest number awarded to a Singapore broadcaster this year.

StarHub clinched the Promax Golds in the “Sports Programme Promotion” and “Sports Programme Campaign” categories, for its British Grand Prix and Italian Serie A ‘Tattoo’ promos on SuperSports (StarHub CableTV Ch 22) respectively.  The British Grand Prix promo captured the competitiveness and excitement of the race through the creation of a three-dimensional competition ground formed by a series of grids to suggest a performance laboratory, and the use of warm red and dynamic motion tracking of the athletes.  In the Italian Serie A “Tattoo” promo, tattoos were used to infer the intense passion fans have for soccer.

StarHub’s broadcast designs for E City (StarHub CableTV Ch 56), a Chinese entertainment channel packaged by StarHub, scored five BDA Golds in the  “Image On-Air”, “Open”, “ID”, “Logo For Use On-Air” and “Logo” categories.  E City also helped StarHub score a Silver BDA award in the “Logo for On-Air, Print And Interactive Applications” category.   The E City creatives echo the essence of the channel - young, trendy, energetic and urban, through the careful use of colours and motifs.

The Sony Amsterdam Tournament 2003 promo on SuperSports bagged StarHub another Silver BDA award, in the “Art Direction & Design: Topical Promo” category.

StarHub is no stranger to the prestigious Promax&BDA Awards, an annual event that recognises excellence in promotions, branding and marketing in Asia.  StarHub won two Golds and two Silvers at the Promax&BDA Asia 2003 in December, and the coveted BDA Platinum award and a Promax Platinum Award Honourable Mention at the International Promax&BDA 2003 in June.

StarHub’s international and regional channel partners, including Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, National Geographic Channel, Nickelodeon, HBO and Star Movies, also scored multiple wins in the Promax&BDA Awards 2004 for their works.
