"StarHub Launches Complete Anti-Spam, Anti-Virus, Content Filtering E-mail Solution for Businesses"
Singapore, 14 April 2004 – StarHub, Singapore’s innovative info-communications provider, today announced the availability of a complete e-mail security solution that will protect businesses against spam and viruses while enabling content filtering of pornographic images. StarHub Managed E-mail Security Service is open to all businesses in Singapore, which have their own domain name, and is independent of the ISP e-mail service they subscribe to.
The service is powered by MessageLabs, the world's biggest e-mail security company with 50 per cent of the managed e-mail security market. MessageLabs' differentiator is its ability to block malicious code in the Internet, before it reaches a customer’s computer networks. MessageLabs’ patented heuristic engine, Skeptic, detects and blocks even new spam, virus and pornographic threats.
The solution consists of three services -
1. Anti-Spam E-mail Security Service – this service uses a combination of artificial intelligence technology and customer configurable blacklists/white-lists to identify and re-route spam before it reaches the network. Based on a recent independent evaluation, this filter mechanism has an effectiveness accuracy of 96.4%, the highest rated anti-spam security system among competitive services.
2. Anti-Virus E-mail Security Service – the anti-virus service uses multiple scanners and patented artificial intelligence to detect and stop all viruses, known and unknown, before they reach the business network. The service comes with a Service Level Agreement as proof of its unrivalled effectiveness.
3. Pornographic Filtering Service – this service uses image composition analysis to detect pornographic images, and allows the flexibility to adjust the sensitivity and routing options depending on the business’ IT policy. The system detects over 90% of e-mail-borne pornographic attachments.
In future, StarHub will introduce MessageLabs’ Content Control Service, which identifies confidential, malicious or inappropriate content according to the company’s internal policies. It manages timed delivery of e-mail with multiple attachments, manages file formats and sizes allowable in the organisation, and monitors usage of keywords and e-mail abuse.
“With StarHub’s Managed E-mail Security Service, customers have access to MessageLabs’ expert team of engineers and support personnel who will manage their e-mail security around the clock,” said Dr Kaizad Heerjee, Head of StarHub’s Business Markets division. “Coupled with StarHub’s excellent customer support team, the solution fully protects enterprises from e-mail-borne threats, ensuring continued peace of mind.”
“MessageLabs is delighted to partner a high-profile and trusted company like StarHub in Singapore," said MessageLabs Managing Director Asia Pacific Nick Hawkins. "Together, we will offer StarHub's customers the highest-possible level of e-mail security backed by a strong, expert support team.”
