Wireless Broadband at 41 Outlets Throughout Singapore

22 September 2003 - StarHub, Singapore's innovative info-communications provider, and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® today announced that all 41 The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® outlets will soon offer wireless broadband services to coffee and tea lovers throughout Singapore.

Wireless broadband allows customers to wirelessly access the Internet at high-speeds with their wirelessly enabled laptop or PDA (the technology is commonly known as WiFi or 802.11b). By being wirelessly connected, customers will be able to surf the Internet, shop online, send e-mails, chat with friends and so much more, while they take that well-deserved coffee/tea break in the comfort and convenience of their nearest Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® outlet!

"We are very excited to be the only speciality coffee operator in partnership with StarHub's wireless broadband. With wireless broadband accessibility at all our outlets, all coffee and tea lovers can now stay connected wirelessly as they enjoy their favourite beverages at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf®," said Mr Michael De Jong, General Manager, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf®, Singapore.

"Along with our wireless hubs at Suntec City and Singapore Changi Airport, we are pleased to extend our wireless network to these popular The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® outlets frequented by PMEBs. From wireless home networking to public hotspots, our wireless broadband customers are able to move from the home to key public spaces with ease and convenience," said Ms Tham Loke Kheng, Senior Vice President for Consumer Marketing, StarHub.

At present, 21 outlets throughout Singapore will be wirelessly enabled (see Editor's Note). These outlets are identified with the prominent green 'Wireless Broadband' logo and have displays showing how customers can connect wirelessly. Other outlets are expected to be wirelessly enabled by early next year.

Continued Ms Tham, "Beyond just wireless broadband, we are pleased to work with The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® on many wireless hubbing opportunities for our StarHub Mobile Gee! and MaxOnline i.Mail customers. We want to add value to these customers as they move towards an enhanced wireless lifestyle!"

To celebrate the launch of wireless broadband services at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® outlets, StarHub is offering this wireless broadband service free-of-charge to StarHub Mobile Gee! customers and MaxOnline i.Mail subscribers until 31 October 2003. In addition, StarHub will offer exclusive mobile and MaxOnline hubbing deals to new StarHub customers to enable them to enjoy the excitement of wireless surfing. These include bundled wireless access cards and discounts off mobile phone packages if they sign up for StarHub Mobile and MaxOnline services. There will even be talks and educational sessions on wireless broadband, conducted free of charge by StarHub at selected The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® outlets.
