100,000th MaxOnline Subscriber Rewarded With S$16,000 Worth of Prizes

Singapore, 15 January 2003 - StarHub, Singapore's leading info-communications provider, announced today that MaxOnline, StarHub's residential broadband Internet service, has achieved 102,000 subscribers to date, retaining its status as the Number One residential broadband service provider and market share leader. Since its launch three years ago, MaxOnline's high-speed broadband service has continued to retain its leadership in residential broadband access, locking in more than 50 percent market share in Singapore.

Said Ms Tham Loke Kheng, StarHub's Senior Vice President of Consumer Marketing: "It is timely that we have achieved another milestone, just as the MaxOnline service marks its third anniversary in January 2003. This is not only an important highlight for StarHub but also the best birthday gift our customers could ever give us. We would like to thank them for their unwavering support of MaxOnline in the past years. Going forward, we will continue to introduce more innovative offerings designed to complement and enhance the broadband experience for our customers."

Ms Tham noted the healthy take-up rate is customers' firm recognition that MaxOnline offers the best value for unlimited broadband Internet surfing and downloading.

"At StarHub, we believe most customers prefer to browse the Internet freely without fear of surfing up a huge bill at the end of the month with time- or volume-based usage charges. MaxOnline's customers know that 1.5 Megabit/sec download bandwidth with unlimited usage is preferred by truly savvy customers looking for the fastest speeds at an affordable flat rate. They are not confused by low initial subscription rates for lower speed service plans and usage-based pricing plans offered by others. As an added bonus, MaxOnline customers can run Internet applications simultaneously. They also do not need to invest in expensive equipment upfront and enjoy the freedom of choice between Macs and PCs, since MaxOnline supports both platforms with ease," said Ms Tham.

"Our customers tell us that once they get MaxOnline, they are addicted, enjoying fast downloads, streaming media and freedom from busy signals. We are proud that as the leading residential broadband Internet access service in Singapore, MaxOnline has opened up a whole new 'Truly Broadband, Truly Unlimited' experience for our customers," she added.

100,000th MaxOnline Subscriber Found

The 100,000th MaxOnline subscriber has also been found. He is Mr Tan Juan Sim, a Punggol resident who has subscribed to MaxOnline and two Digital Voice lines for telecommuting, and StarHub CableTV for leisure. Digital Voice is StarHub's revolutionary fixed line voice service that was launched last year and runs on StarHub's cable network.

For being the 100,000th MaxOnline subscriber, StarHub will reward him with an Apple PowerMac G4 system worth S$16,000. In addition, to celebrate this milestone with loyal MaxOnline customers, StarHub has also picked from its pool of subscribers one lucky customer, Ms Chien Hui Chun from Bedok, who will also receive an Apple PowerMac G4 system.

Said Ms Tham, "We are happy that by hubbing with various StarHub services at home, hubbers like the Tan family are able to enjoy greater convenience, cost-savings and bundled privileges from StarHub, a one-stop service provider for multiple lifestyle services."
