- One Of The Largest Corporate GPRS Deals Today -
Singapore, 11 August 2003 - StarHub today announced that it is providing GPRS connectivity for CityCab's next generation wireless booking system. The system, Integrated Transport Management System (ITMS), is to be developed by CET Technologies. The GPRS connectivity deal is believed to be one of the largest corporate GPRS deals to date in Singapore.
Tapping on StarHub's robust GSM / GPRS network and built on an open standard platform, the new system allows greater flexibility in incorporating additional functions and services to better cater to customer needs and bring added convenience to some 5,000 CityCab taxi drivers. StarHub's reliable and robust GPRS network also offers greater information capacity and better coverage island-wide.
"StarHub is proud to be selected as the mobile infrastructure provider for CityCab's new mission-critical taxi despatch system. Their taxi drivers will be able to take advantage of StarHub's robust GPRS network to have real-time information anytime, anywhere and enables them to meet rising customers' demands on a timely basis," said Mr Chan Kin Hung, Senior Vice President, StarHub Mobile. "StarHub is confident that with our reliable GSM / GPRS network, proven island-wide coverage and unwavering commitment to quality service, we can support CityCab in their endeavour to provide excellent service to their customers."
The initial roll-out is expected to commence in the fourth quarter of 2004, with the aim of a full system roll-out by mid-2005. The other two taxi subsidiaries of ComfortDelGro - Comfort Transportation and Yellow-Top Cabs, with a combined fleet of 16,400 taxis, are expected to migrate to the new system as well.
