Singapore, 23 December 2002 - StarHub CableTV and Sony Entertainment Television bring the 2003 Cricket World Cup live to Singapore viewers from 8 Feb to 23 Mar 2003.
Under a special 2003 Cricket World Cup pay-per-view package, cricket fans get to watch the most complete coverage of all 54 matches, which includes all preliminary rounds, the Super Six stage, the semi-finals and finals, held in Johannesburg. This adds up to more than 350 hours of cricket action over six weeks. Cricket fans will also get to catch incisive match previews and post-match reviews plus daily match highlights.
Said Ms Sandie Lee, StarHub CableTV’s Vice-President (Programming): "The Cricket World Cup is the tournament for cricket enthusiasts, just as the FIFA World Cup is to soccer fans. That was evident when we telecasted the 1999 tournament. We know there is a lot of interest among StarHub CableTV’s customers in the Cricket World Cup.
"As such, we worked with Sony Entertainment Television to bring the telecast of the 2003 Cricket World Cup to Singapore so that cricket fans here can also experience the thrills and spills of the most important event on the cricket calendar."
For a special pay-per-view package price of S$65*, cricket fans can catch their favourite sport on two StarHub CableTV channels dedicated to the World Cup. Ch 37 (coverage from Sony’s Max channel) will run 24 hours daily and will show match previews and reviews, daily highlights as well as live and repeat telecasts of matches. Ch 38 (coverage from Sony’s SET channel) will be dedicated to live match telecasts.
There’s also an early bird discounted price of S$55* for those who subscribe between 25 Dec 2002 and 23 Jan 2003.
