StarHub Launches StarHub International Calling Card

 

Customers Now Have the Power to Enjoy Personalised International Calling Services

 

Singapore, 17 September 2001 – StarHub, Singapore’s innovative info-communications service provider, today announced the launch of its StarHub International Calling Card service. This service enables customers to make international calls from overseas to Singapore and vice versa. Customers can also use this service to make local calls.

 

From 18 September 2001, customers who sign up for the StarHub International Calling Card will enjoy a host of benefits and personalised services for international calls. They can expect quality calls, per second billing, a consolidated bill of all StarHub services for their added convenience and also StarHub rates when travelling overseas. Registration is FREE and there is no monthly subscription fees or surcharge for calls made via the StarHub International Calling Card.

 

Mr William Tan, General Manager of Voice Services said, "We constantly explore and introduce innovative products and services to meet the needs of our customers. With this in mind, our StarHub International Calling Card is packed with new and enhanced services such as Call List, Intelligent Login and Frequently Called Countries to allow our customers control in personalising the services they want."

 

User of the StarHub International Calling Card can expect innovative personalised services such as:

  • Call List - gives added control and enhanced security to customers as they can list up to five telephone numbers that the card is restricted to call,
  • Intelligent Login - a first-in-market which enables customers to program up to eight most frequently called from numbers. When customers call from any of these eight numbers, they will not have to enter their card number, and
  • Frequently Called Countries - an existing service via StarHub’s IDD 008 whereby customers can nominate up to eight countries as their Frequently Called Countries to save 8% on the international calls made to any of these destinations.

As an introductory offer, customers who register before 31 December 2001 will enjoy a 30% discount on all IDD 008 calls from Singapore to overseas for the first 30 days from registration. In addition, customers who accumulate S$1,000 in international calls* by January 2002 will also receive a S$200 voucher to be redeemed at selected retail outlets. StarHub has also pledged 1% of every IDD call made to the StarHub IDD Empowerment Fund in aid of the less privileged. This includes calls made via the StarHub International Calling Card.

 

Customers can register for the StarHub International Calling Card by picking up a registration form at any StarHub Shops** or downloading it from www.starhub.com.sg. Customers can also call StarHub Customer Care at 1633 to request for an application form to be sent to them.

 

To call from Singapore to over 230 destinations world-wide or for local calls, customers can dial 1883 from any fixed line, mobile phone or StarHub payphone and enter their card number and PIN to access the service. Customers have the power to choose between StarHub’s IDD 008 premium service and I-Call 018 Smart Saving service. Similarly, to call home when they are overseas, customers have to dial the local access number of the country they are in and enter their card number and PIN. The StarHub International Calling Card is specially targeted at leisure and business travellers, students studying overseas and those who call overseas to their business associates and loved ones.
