Savvis Announces StarHub As First Asian Partner To Provide Intelligent IP Networking Services
Singapore, 21 June 2001 -- StarHub, Singapore's new info-communications operator, and SAVVIS Communications Corp. (NASDAQ: SVVS), a premier global network services provider, today announced a strategic alliance which will make StarHub the first Asian operator to deliver SAVVIS’ Intelligent IP networkingSM services to global companies in Singapore.
Under the alliance, StarHub will offer its customers SAVVIS’ network-based Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network (IP VPN) services. This solution can provide Internet, Intranet, and Extranet capabilities via a single connection to SAVVIS' global ATM backbone network. These services could range from simple corporate email targeted at SMEs to time-sensitive and mission critical real-time market data applications required by large corporations and financial institutions.
SAVVIS’ Intelligent IP services utilises proven IP-over-ATM technology to deliver a customer’s mission critical applications at Quality-of-Service levels guaranteed by industry leading Service Level Agreements. By delivering IP services from the core of its network through StarHub's infrastructure, SAVVIS and StarHub saves customers from having to invest in on-site equipment and support for critical IP services such as routing or firewalling.
As a result, SAVVIS’ Intelligent IP network architecture gives businesses the performance benefits of traditional private networks with the simplicity and cost benefits of the Internet. The addition of SAVVIS’ Intelligent IP services will also further strengthen and complement StarHub's existing portfolio of Global Managed services.
"With this SAVVIS agreement, StarHub has found a strategic networking partner that has experience providing the high performance and flexibility demanded by our customers. These new services will significantly reduce the costs and complexities faced by companies in managing different networks, services and applications for their business communication needs," said Richard Lee, Vice-President of Business Markets of StarHub.
"SAVVIS joining forces with StarHub is a high-impact partnership between a fast growing company with leadership in the IP Services market and a fast growing company with leadership in Asia Pacific. This partnership extends our reach in Asia Pacific and provides StarHub customers with industry-leading networking solutions that are scalable to meet their needs as they grow," said Jack Finlayson, president and chief operating officer of SAVVIS.
