Singapore, 9 January 2001 -- StarHub payphone users can now look forward to new lifestyle services introduced in December 2000 on StarHub’s Interactive Payphone Service (SPInS). But that’s not all, your StarHub phonecard or CashCard could also be the winning ticket to your next holiday in the "Win A Holiday Contest" offered through SPInS between 5th January to 1st March 2001. This is the first contest of its kind based on the smart chip capabilities of the StarHub payphones.

 

Through this competition, StarHub payphone users will enjoy the added incentive of winning weekly prizes of either a $1,000 travel voucher or one of 10 StarHub commemorative phonecard sets worth $88 each. So the more each customer uses SPInS, the more chances they will stand to win!

 

Weekly contest results will be made available in the Quick Information menu section in SPInS and will be published in the local dailies at the end of the contest period. Winners will be listed based on the serial number shown on their StarHub phonecard or CashCard.

 

Launched in August 2000, SPInS is Singapore’s first WAP-based interactive payphone service providing interactive online information and directory services instantly. It boasts a Quick Guide and Quick information service offering access to a variety of contents including ‘Hotel Guide’, ‘Shopping Guide’, ‘Financial Service’, ‘Disco and Pub’ as well as Cinema and movie listings for users on the go.

 

With the recent introduction of lifestyle based contents, users will now be able to search for listings of businesses that offer billiard, bowling, archery, spa/massage, dancing and water sports services. In addition, the Call Through Connect function provides a direct dial-up feature for users to call merchants of their choice directly once they have located them via the Quick Guide section.

The interactive platform on SPInS will also be made available to marketers who wish to showcase their own contests, market surveys and advertisements through this innovative medium. When companies use this avenue to conduct their contests, these results can also be published in the SPInS contest section.

StarHub’s voice and data enabled payphones can be found in high visibility areas such as shopping centres, convenience stores, 7-Eleven stores, town centres, public buildings and Changi Airport. To date, there more than 1,200 SPInS enabled payphones located island-wide in Singapore.
