- Utility-pricing model a cost-effective solution for enterprises -

Singapore, 6 August 2001 -- Companies looking to improve the cost-efficiencies in their IT spending amidst this uncertain economic climate can now look forward to attractive 'pay-as-you-use' monthly payment plans* offered by StarHub Internet for Microsoft's latest suite of office software applications, Office XP and FrontPage 2002.

Available from 15 August 2001, this 'software-as-a-service' proposition allows business users to spread their software licensing costs over a period of time, giving companies faster and easier access to world-class software solutions at a fraction of the initial upfront cost. This innovative pricing model is the first such programme to be implemented in the region by Microsoft through local partners such as StarHub Internet.

StarHub Internet's leased line and ISDN customers who purchase the Standard or Professional packages will enjoy a low 30% down payment with six monthly instalments. For example, a customer buying an Office XP Standard package costing $800 will only need to make a first payment of $333.30 (30% down-payment plus the first instalment), followed by the next five monthly payments of $93.30. All customers will be billed through their existing StarHub Internet accounts.

StarHub Internet today also revealed the price packages for SharePoint Team Services which starts from a monthly subscription of $27.90 for one user license, Site Administration Tool and 50Mb file storage. It was appointed the first official Web Presence Provider for Microsoft in Singapore and will provide the hosting facility enabling SharePoint Team Services in Singapore.

A collaborative service under Office XP and FrontPage 2000, SharePoint Team Services gives users access to a ready-template website that allows team members to quickly create or contribute to team or project websites - sharing documents, calendars, announcements, updates and other postings.

"Through our partnership with Microsoft, we have been able to lower the entry barrier for companies who want to take advantage of the many collaborative tools that Office XP offers. SMEs and SOHOs in particular will find this 'pay-as-you-use' pricing plan a more cost-effective and financially manageable plan than having to deal with the cost upfront," said Mr Kyong Yu, General Manager, StarHub Internet.

Said Mr Haresh Ram, Group Product Manager at Microsoft Singapore, "The new Microsoft suite of Office products and services boasts many new features which enhance the new and improved user experiences. The partnership with StarHub Internet is a win-win relationship. It will add a lot of value to customers who are working to deliver fast and efficient collaborative communication between different parties. On top of that, this partnership is now able to offer a cost-effective option in terms of smaller investment upfront."

These innovative packages were made possible through a joint collaboration between StarHub Internet and Microsoft Singapore announced in June 2001 at the launch of Office XP. The two companies are working closely to roll out a series of marketing bundles and promotions of software and Internet services.

Customers can register their interest for the Office XP and FrontPage 2000 bundles from today by calling StarHub Internet's Business Customer Hotline Tel: 825 7500 or log on to StarHub Internet's website at www.starhub.net.sg for more information.
