Singapore, 31 March 2000 -- StarHub, Singapore’s new info-communications service operator is set to commercially launch its services on 1 April. To celebrate with the whole nation in true Singapore fashion, StarHub has become the proud sponsor of the Singapore Food Festival this year. Come April, Singapore will not only commemorate the birth of the new "star" in the local info-communications market, but also the start of Singapore Food Festival 2000.

Said Ms Shae Hung Yee, StarHub’s Assistant Vice President of Corporate and Marketing Communications, "StarHub is pleased to work with the Singapore Tourism Board to present the Singapore Food Festival. We see a strong parallel between our business, which is communications, and food. Both are an integral part of our lives. It also makes sense for us to support this event as the timing of the festival coincides with our commercial launch and what better way to celebrate our launch than to celebrate it with food which is close to everybody’s heart!"

Singapore’s month-long rousing festivity of good food, fine cuisine and all things gastronomic kicks off on 31 March with the Singapore Food Festival Opening Celebrations. One minute past midnight on 1 April, StarHub will officially commence operations as Singapore’s newest info-communications company offering both fixed and mobile telecommunications services in Singapore.

To celebrate its launch, StarHub will have a big launch party on 1 and 2 April along the whole stretch of Orchard Road starting from Lido to H2O Zone at Orchard Point. This StarHub launch party will create a street carnival with the revelry, colour and gaiety that befits the occasion. It will feature the world’s strongest man attempting to do a record breaking feat, giant puppets, wacky music bands and other world-class acts. All of Singapore are invited to join in the festivities which will start at 11am – 9 pm. Be sure to be there for Singapore’s largest launch party ever!
