  1. What is this Smart TV service?
    Smart TV is a service which enables users to record their favourite TV programmes conveniently with just a single click on the remote control. It allows customers to “time shift” and have control over when TV programmes are viewed. The time-shifting element also provides users with the ability to pause, replay, rewind and fast-forward, even in the midst of viewing a ‘live’ TV broadcast.

  2. How do I enjoy Smart TV service?
    Customers who wish to enjoy the Smart TV service would have to rent the HubStation and HubStation HD.

  3. What are the key features of the Smart TV service?
    These are the key features of the Smart TV service:

    • Recording Functions:
      Smart TV users can enjoy 3 different types of recording:
      • Record instantly – record the programme you are watching with one click of a button
      • Record by show – convenient recording via the On-screen TV Guide
      • Record by time – set recordings on a daily or weekly basis
      All scheduled recordings will be displayed prominently on the Recording Schedule for easy reference. Smart TV automatically performs checks on the disk space availability and any recording conflicts between scheduled recordings.

    • Second Channel Recording:
      Users can watch one channel while recording another channel.

    • Easy Recording Via On-Screen TV Guide:
      Smart TV is fully integrated with StarHub TV's On-Screen TV Guide. An on-screen interface offers a simple and convenient way of recording TV programmes in advance. Users simply have to locate their favourite TV shows through the guide and press the record button. TV viewers no longer have to go through the confusing experience of setting timers and channels on their recording devices.

    • Control ‘Live’ TV:
      As Smart TV automatically records the programme you are watching, users can enjoy unprecedented instant replays of 'live' TV by choosing to rewind, fast-forward, slow-motion or freeze elapsed clips. They can also pause the show they are viewing, and return later to pick up from where they have left off.
    • 2-way Interactivity:
      With 2-way Interactivity, you can enjoy Start Over, Catch Up TV and access to Video-On-Demand services.

    Users will also get to enjoy automatic and free software upgrades through the network to enhance the Smart TV features.

  4. Do I have to pay for the Smart TV service?
    No, there are no additional charges for the Smart TV service.

  5. Will Smart TV be able to skip advertisements?
    Smart TV will not be able to automatically skip advertisements. However, it will allow you to fast forward during playback.

  6. How far ahead in time can I record programmes using Smart TV?
    If you are using the Record by Show feature, you will be able to record from the three-day TV schedules available via the On-Screen TV Guide.

    With the Record by Time feature, you would also be able to preset your recordings for your favourite series on a once, daily or weekly basis.

  7. Can I record both audio tracks for a dual sound programme?
    Yes, you will be able to record both audio tracks for the dual sound programmes.

  8. 8. Can I record On Demand programmes using the Smart TV service?
    As most of the programmes offered via on-demand are subjected to licensing conditions that prohibit personal recording, you will not be able to record On Demand programmes using the Smart TV service.

  9. Can I restrict what my children watch on the HubStation?
    In addition to the parental lock feature to prevent access to a particular channel, you may lock a recorded programme via My Playlist. When the lock feature has been enabled, you will be prompted to enter a six-digit PIN in order to playback the programme. The six-digit PIN will be the same as the Parental Lock PIN or a default PIN of 000000.

  10. Can I search for TV programmes using Smart TV?
    This feature is not available on Smart TV.

  11. How current are the TV schedules in the on-screen TV guide? How often is the information updated?
    The On-screen TV Guide is updated daily on weekdays with the information provided by the respective channels.

  12. What happens if the programme schedules changes after I have scheduled a recording by programme?
    When the programme schedules in the On-screen TV Guide are updated, Smart TV will automatically detect any changes and adjust the recording timing accordingly.

  13. Can I record the programme and playback the programme at the same time?
    You can playback and watch a programme from the beginning while the programme continues recording. With Smart TV, you no longer have to waste time waiting for your favourite programme to finish recording before you can commence viewing.

  14. What is the free software enhancement about?
    We are constantly upgrading the digital applications and services on the HubStation and HubStation HD to keep our HubStation and HubStation HD users in pace with technology. The purpose of this software update is to allow all HubStation and HubStation HD users to enjoy the new enhancements such as improved Smart TV functionalities and new features.

    If your HubStation or HubStation HD is always put on standby mode (red light) whenever you are not watching TV, the new software will be updated whenever you turn on the HubStation or HubStation HD. Otherwise, you will need to reboot the main power supply to the HubStation or HubStation HD to receive regular software updates.
